This is really a copy from another forum but I felt like posting it. Although I highly doubt this theory is true...

(I am aware this is old)

Honestly I doubt this theory is correct because in the recent trailers for HL2 Episode 1 G-man say's we'll see about that and for some reason that makes me think it isn't Freeman...Anyway he doesn't talk like thiiiiiiissss...In fact he doesn't talk at all unless in the future he works for the Combine instead and they give him a voice heh...

GMAN IS GORDONS BROTHER

well its the likely plot device valve would use to wrap up a pretty crap b-movie plot
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-13 21:58:04 UTC Post #174150
I think they just took the gordan model and changed it a bit to save time.

modeling faces is damn hard and time consuming
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-14 02:18:13 UTC Post #174157
Dumbest theory ever. Gordon being related to the G-man in anyway sounds absolutely stupid. If that is the case though, Valve should rethink their plot. Oh and the gman/gordon models are totally different in Goldsource, and there is no proper Gordon model in Source.

Ooooh boy. Look, the Gman IS NOT Gordons farther, or gordon, or related to him in any way, and thats a fact. How is that a fact? Well if you read 'raising the bar' this is one of the things it says about the Gman and I quote:

"... who has trouble speaking in a human tounge."

OBVIOUS HINT! The Gman isnt even human.

Theres a load of interesting stuff you can find in there too, like how the combine and Xen are related and so on. Somthing like 'The combine didnt know about the border world, or Earth, until the resonence cascade.' - somthing like that.

I have Raising the Bar now :D I got it free with that other book I ordered...Mapping and Modelling by Tim (something)...

Yeah I have reason to believe he is an alien like Tycell said...It kinda makes sense cause an alien can hide himself in a human body, he may look different giving the reason why he speaks like that...Maybe his species all talk like that.

He can pull space and time...Can a human with that sort of technology keep it a secret! 0_o

Haha, never heard about this conspiracy before.

G-Man's head is too thin, but otherwise it's uncanny ^^

"... who has trouble speaking in a human tounge."
But Gordon never talks either. ;D

Though I think the claim is pretty ludicrous.
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-14 06:47:30 UTC Post #174186
Its not a theory, 'VALVe' is TELLING YOU he is an alien.

"... who has trouble speaking in a human tounge."
"... who has trouble speaking in a human tounge."
"... who has trouble speaking in a human tounge."

HUMAN TOUNGE, Hence he is NOT human, Duh. And please, this has nothing to do with that bloody arugment about that flickering screen in the water hazard levels, where it flickers and them momentarily the Gmans distorted face is on it. Its not showing him in his 'true form' its just the screen is busted and it has static and what have you.

But Gordon also never speaks once. Could be because he "has trouble speaking in a human tongue."

;D

Halflife 2 has a piss poor b-movie plot that would make Orwell spin in his grave, why does everyone think its the greatest story ever told? You people make films like Primer get made, utter unfathomable nonsense.
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-14 07:51:13 UTC Post #174204
Oh shutup, no one with more than half a brain beleives Half-Life 1 and 2's stories are 'the greatest stories ever told'. As far as game stories go however it's ahead of a majority of games, namely the whole 'terrorist have taken over yada yada... one man can stop them yada yada.' type games, which exist in plentitude. And besides, good movies borrow plot ideas from existing ones ALL THE TIME, so what if Half-Life 2 borrows some of Nineteen Eighty-Four's genius? A little depth aint' gonna' hurt anyone.

IMMERSION, Valve created an interesting game-world that people like to discuss and ponder (not original, but since when are most games original?). And just because we are analysing a game's story, doesn't mean it's a friggin' masterpeice. People still analyse and retell Quake's story through conversions/upgrades and such, and that most-definately was not a brilliant plot.

half life series has one of the greatest stories in a computer game to date.
Penguinboy PenguinboyHaha, I died again!

Yeah, half life stories are talked about and so popular because you actually become a part of the story yourself. Thats why people say its so great, because you are the main character.

Although, I do quite like Half-Life's stories, a LOT of deciding wether or not a story is 'good' and 'original' is in the exacution. If the exacution makes it seem beliveable, its a good story.
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-14 09:09:39 UTC Post #174239
it doesnt have a coherent plot, halflife's was so invisible you had to tack a lot of fan content on top to even discover what it was. If they use any more deus ex machinas i'm going to scream.

still, at least its not fahrenheit, which became my new scale for how bad game plots can become
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-14 11:21:20 UTC Post #174268
It all goes back to the ancient prophecy, 2 twins seperated at birth,

One taken by an alien race, the other left with his mother.

G-Man knows about gordon, about the prophecy, gordon is clueless.

its a good theory :P
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-14 11:26:47 UTC Post #174271
That made me laugh, MNuTz.

"Gordon, I am your twin brother, but I was abducted by vampire zombie mutatns from Zorg-12 and now I have returned to avenge our farther and reclaim the farms from the evil baron for the helpless towns people of goonville."

Not true, even when I first played through half life I knew exactly what was going on, if you listen to what people say and put together the things you see around you it does infact have a very valid story line.
still, at least its not fahrenheit, which became my new scale for how bad game plots can become
Please, do tell. I have never heard of this game and am yet to find a plot which is more cheese whip filled than Piriah and alike.

G-man simply cant be Gordon. G-man is a alien. Read the manual that came with the Collectors edition.

Starts with one of the most interesting gaming plots that have come around for a while, very well executed as a 'pseudo free-will' game with consequences for every action.

However
FAHRENHEIT/INDIGO PROPHECY SPOILER ALERT

towards the end of the game its getting progressively more rediculous, with the protagonist exhibiting superhuman powers. It all culminates in a 1/2 hour orgy of shit writing where there is both a totally implausible fight scene ripped straight from the matrix, the introduction of a new race AI that has nothing to do with the main plot so far, the introduction of an underground group of tramps who monitor the world, the protagonist having sex with the person investigating him for murder, despite being A WALKING CORPSE with no body warmth and hours earlier trying to kill each other and the ending, where despite the entire earth being plunged into an ice age that destroys everything, the main protagonists are sitting in the most over the top green field with bunnies and happy flowers
Its as if they look up deus ex machina and applied it directly to the plot of matrix revolutions to finish their crappy crappy game.
Friends of mine I unfortunately introduced to the game came to the same conclusion, what the fuck was the director thinking??

END SPOILER ALERT

And, no, G-man isn't related to Freeman in any way. This just shoes how lazy VALVe actually are.

PS: When I first played the game I never made a big deal out of the main character not saying a damn word - I thought that he actually talks to the people he gets to follow him but the creators didn't put sound to state the obvious. Then in HL2 they didn't added voice because it was going to change the personality of Gordon. Well, HL2 wasn't considered in the first place, so it's normal to carry errors made in the original game.

Apparently, Xen isnt under the control of the combine when the resonence cascade happens, and infact the Resenence cascade alerts the Combine to the presence of Xen and Earth. Though this is all what I am being told from somone who has read and owns Rasing the Bar, so I cant back this up with any quotes or anything until he gets online.
