Number of times the Earth has been destroyed: 0 hahaha

That was pretty cool, I thinik I'll go harness some vacuum energy now.

Phooey. It's already been done - see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Earth was destroyed to make way for a hyper-space bypass.

Screw their fancy black holes, and anti-matter. All thats needed is Chuck Norris.

agreed @ Ant. My favorite was the mass driver. Let's all slowly take teh earth apart piece by piece, for the hell of it!

I'd take something with a swing, just let jupiter swallow the earth or something, anyone's with me on this one?

I like the micro-black hole idea. :)

I didn't really understand number 2, could someone elaborate on that one?
Posted 17 years ago2006-04-26 17:03:42 UTC Post #176895
its probably one of those theoretical machines like a perpetual motion device, it can never exist in our understanding of engineering because there can never be perfection

if i understand these are basically self-replicating 'naninites', tiny little robots able to manipulate matter at the atomic level (atom by atom) and reproduce themselves by rearranging (or modifying in some way) materials at the atomic level. E.g. if it was made entirely of carbon it would just move a bunch of carbon atoms around until it was another of itself, which could then create another and another ad infinitum

If each was created only out of the elements of the earth, then each could reproduce themselves by eating up more of the earths elements, the net result being all the earths elements becoming squillions of little robots instead of the raw materials they are supposed to be

No those are VNMs, and thats not even #2 :| . I was talking about the machine form #2, some kind of black hole creating device?

wha, you asked what number 2 was and number 2 is vnm machines!
http://www.livescience.com/technology/10ways_destroyearth-2.html

unless you are a crazy man and you count backwards, the second one was number 9
http://www.livescience.com/technology/10ways_destroyearth-9.html
which is strangelets

the black hole one is number 8, which is the third one in

Im here all week

Crap, I meant number 9. Sorry about that. I'm so used to rating things at 10 being the highest that I was thinking 2 being lower in the list.
