ok im on the last part of BURLYBRAWL and instead of putting crappy stairs or a ladder(boring crap tbh) i want an elavator. Its closed u go up to it and click on the button. Doors open u walk in, then u press button again inside of the elavator and it goes up to the top then opens. U get out and then after like 4 seconds it closes and goes back down again.
Im learning the bsics of mapping and this map is very good(fund and playable. Textures and stuff are average)
These forums help me alot and some people should really be thanked by them :/ any1 know how to solve this

Thanks for at least getting my name right! The others are seventh-monkey, kol, steinin, and by jacob, do you mean jobabob (with the evil jedi woman)? Read the elevs tut., and elevs with moving doors. Or you can just do an evil valve trick which I've never got to work properly. I'll tell you that another time if you're interested.

Well... Multimanagers is the deal. Also depends on what elevator do you want to do:
a) Elevator with doors that open, close and move when the elevator?s move... ----> Look at the tutorial in this very own site about moving doors and elevators.
b) Elevator with doors that open and close but don?t follow the elevator ----> Rather easy to set up, keep on reading:
First of it all you need these things:
-Elevator.
-Doors.
-Switches.
And well, if you know how to make elevators with func_train you?re half-way done, if you don?t, there?s also a good tutorial in our cool site. So, make the elevator and think about it, you want a switch to activate it?. Yes!. You want the switch to move with the elevator?. Yes!. Can this be done with the HL engine?. No!!!. Let?s fool the player this way. When the elevator is made create the switch brush (just the brush, it won?t move) and make it part of the elevator itself. If you trigger the elevator the switch brush will move along but it won?t trigger a thing so next, create a func_rotating_button in the same place that the switch would be. Texture is as blue, and set it?s rendering properties to solid and 255. Tick the Non-Solid flag and we?ve got an invisible but functional switch. Make our rotating button trigger the elevator and whenever you "Use" the switch brush you will be actually using an invisible func_rotating button but nobody will know :D. When you get it to work you will need an exact switch in the upper part of the elevator so copy it and we?re done with the elevator.
The doors are easy, create a switch outside the elevator that triggers the doors and set them to close 4 seconds after they?re opened... But that?s not what you want. You want to use the elevator switch, close the doors, make the elevator move, open the upper doors and close them again... That?s easy if you know how to set up multimanagers. As I don?t want to spoil the fun of making it and helping you learn I?ll give you some tips and reccomend you to read the multimanager tutorial on this site, It?s such an easy and powerful tool!!!!... These are the tips:

-Doors will have to be named in order to be opened and closed by switches.
-Doors with the "Toogle" flag ticked will work fun since will only open or close when triggered.
-A multimanager can trigger several things through time, you?ll need a clock to time your elevator or you?ll need to be good in maths.
-Multimanagers can be triggered by switches (like the invisible one).
-Multimanagers can be triggered by more than one object.
So read the tutorials and it will be done :).

omfg this looks like the hardest thing ive encountered in mapping :/ and ive downloaded the Tutorial and the example map. ITS CONFUSING :( is damn hard and i need it to finish my map :( HEY CAN ONE U GUYS MAKE THE ELEVATOR FOR ME :P

Yes, this probably is one of the hardest things in mapping. Just make one without doors that accompany the lift!

just go onto the dark side and steal the elevator from the map cs_matrix :badass: well there really is a map called that and it does have an elevator in it but i dont recommend u decompile it and steal the elevator (hey!, whered my elevator go? :confused: )

could you make the doors func-trains seperately, it would be complicated but if you have path_tracks where you want the doors to open to...in fact this would be monumentally complicated

You have 3 posts going at once.... All deal with the same thing.

I have played CS, I still play CS... although I admit that I haven't upgraded to v1.6, but after searching the web I can't seem to find the link between cs_matrix and the official 1.6 release. Is it part of the new upgrade, or is it a custom map?
If it is custom, then ask the person who built it how they did it.
The elevator tutorial was designed for Half-Life. It was never designied for inclusion in a CS map.
Try a CS website and post your question there...

Asking people to make things for your maps is a bit silly, because they are having trouble enough getting their own stuff working.
