I was told that you could import files from 3D?s MAX is this true?

yes. Using some plugins, you can export and import model information to and from 3DS Max. You can Model for both HL1 and HL2 using some plugins that are available on the net.

If you can't find them, i'll link them for you. I do alot of modelling for HL in 3DS Max.
