a screw it. ur sounds aren't playing because (watch developer mode carefully) they are in the wrong format. I tried a custom alarm sound and everything was set up properly, but when a played it, the developer said the sound pathname and something about stereo.
To fix this, open up sound recorder "Windows: Start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/
Sound Recorder", and then open your sound. then go to Save As... and below where it shows "Save as type:" it shows the format of your sound. click on "change" and set the format to PCM and the Attributes to "11,025 Hz, 8 bit, Mono. That is the standard and I think required format for CS and HL sounds.

Hope you fix it...

SuperMechaCOw, thank you for trying, but it still didn't work. By the way, will both of you stop bikering!!!

Can you both read the forum I got an Idea (By me) and let me know if your interested. It is failing slowly.

I'm going to start a new forum and place all the info of the sound, all the files and everything, or I'll just put it in the incomplete place.

Thank you all for your help.

Can someone just make an example map that I can download that has sound???

That would help, if I can see how in an example map. :)

Well, Cause of Death has it, in the Completed Maps section of the vault. By (yours sincerely) and some guy who never bothers to visit the forums any more :)

any sound that isn't in stereo should work, thats the only limit I've found (apart from size, >16meg will crash hl)

Lack of stereo makes sense since HL uses stereo in positional playing (hm, sounds good) anyway.

I doubt really high frequencies or most (all?) compression will work.

ok, any non-stereo, PCM sound, less than 16 meg, without a frequency HIGHER THAN CD QUALITY, will work

happy now? :|
