sure! anyone can! we will just giv u one of the finished WADs once im done with them, but anyone can, it just has to be mario! it is going to have single and multi with bots, the SP should be made with spirit cos its better, if u want to map for it u will have to wait cos we will have to give u the rescources

how about we start with CS's AMX MOD type of game. Trust me, making a MOD of Half-Life or Spirit (especially spirit) is HARD. you need a very organized team and people who know c++ very well. I was going to take a c++ class next year, but since i moved to Hickville, PA, it's been pushed back a year in time.

I would like to make maps. Send me the wad (try using all sorts of textures in it too, like basement textures and a lot of the ones from the 64 game). I can help a LITTLE wth code but not much.

Jax, may i remind you, war3 is a amx mod. Do you even know how to make amx scripts?
Its a fine idea, but you need modelers, programmers, mappers and the lot.

Can I just say, I think you should look at docrock's mario maps. They are of very high quality, and no offence jax, but much better than yours.

I've got quite a nice mario.wad and a couple maps that could easily be converted over to the mod, if ya want. You gonna give the maps prefixes like cs maps, ya know, like mm_mario or somethin like that?

Also included with the maps are some models, Mario, Luigi, Cannon_Guy; as well as some mario sounds. Be sure to give proper credit if you use them and also if you use my maps, I'd like to convert them over if you don't mind. I have 2 Mario maps in my profile and will add a few more now.

very very nice maps docrock, im sure u will be a huge help witjh what u have done, i played my mario map at a lan party and everyone loved it and thought it would be a great idea to do a mario mod, ok im getting into modelling a bit and im going to do a lot of mapping, anyone who wants mario.wd im uploading it to twhl.

ok, mp should be teams (cs) with wario and bowser and stuff on bad guys side and mario and luigi, toad etc on good guys, single player could have a coop mode? (didnt think so) where one player mario other one luigi? if not we have mario rescuing peach from bowser and luigi is a friendly AI sound good?

jax, you can't make it CS. You just can't if u want to make a decent mod. You have to use Half-Life because of the source code. You can't just willy-nilly say, "ok, CS, be mario now", becuase it's allready compiled. when you make a map, you can't open a bsp and edit it like that, can you? and besides, CS isn't even in the last bit practical for what we are doing. we're making mario, and i think it should be an sp with grunts turned into monsters. oh, and here are some other things to think about:

-should be based on mario64, because we have those wads already, and it was the best 3d version of mario yet (sunshine was gay).
-should be played in third person, like observer's in CS onthe chase camera
-maybe armor should be turned into star-power, to use things like wing caps, and fire flowers, or maybe those should have their own ammo and armor should be like a count-down timer for invicibility with a power-star
-limited weapons. i never saw mario with an m4 or ak. instead be able to select between flowers or wing caps, etc. and the crowbar will be his punches and kicks
-we should at least give him a plunger or a wrench. he is a plumber for christ's sake!
-mp should just be deathmatch (or teams) where you can play as different characters (even the enemies, like koopas).
-we have to have a yoshi

yep quicksilver made the models. look on my site in the models section for power-up Mario & Luigi models too. I bet if ya ask quick, he'd be happy to make a peach model for ya...he's an awesome modeller..he made a spongebob squarepants model which is perfection. It's in the models section on my site, too.

mario will have weapons like fireflowers and feathers for super jump (long jump module) remember the feathers from super nintendo? i do, yes that would be great docrock we need all the models we can get

hey i have a better idea... why dont i just put those wires and stuff on me like they do to make sports games for like ps2? it would save alot of time ;) and i could get a fake moustache....but if u want to make this mod u should plan what u want done not thinking of an obstacles in the way... dont settle for anything less than what can be done.. you dont want people playing this once cause they heard about it and it was fun for a little while and never play it again.... so unless its absolutely impossible to do a certain thing keep workin on it or ask other people for help... (i bet i just made no sense) i think it was a good idea for like the evil crew (wario,waluigi,bowser) to be the terrorist team and the good guys (mario, luigi, toad) to be ct and give the opposite of each character (mario-wario) the same abilities or something but different effects... im prolly suggesting a lot and considering i dont no/cant do.. diddly squat i should shut up now... well if u want anymore ideas i ll be around... well my clan might be getting a server and if we do we ll be happy to host the mod and advertise or w/e..

Yes, coding is difficult, so GET SOME CODERS TO JOIN YOUR TEAM! NOT DIFFICULT! And do not make multiplayer mods, I get so tired of people making mp maps constantly, I want to see some sp! Make it with spirit! Then we can have custom models etc. as scientists and barneys.

Supermario, a computer is not just for online stuff. You CANNOT make it CS! I will not download it if it is a multiplayer mod, because I almost never play multiplayer. Single player is so much more enjoyable. Besides, mario was meant to be single player in the first place, except mario golf, mario kart, and mario tennis. But please, to have a chance of creating a good mod, make it hl or spirit. And also, don't forget bullet bill like ministeve said. Also, super mario world has torpedo ted, which is an underwater bullet bill.

ok so we have mappers, models, and.... ummm coders? coders? where the hell have our coders gone?

who can help code? i have no idea of how to code and i only know a tiny bit about what you do with it :S

i see making it with spirit will be the harder way but it will be the most effective way to do it in what we are trying to do with our SP

HOLY CRAP YOU MORONS! I just sat there and told you you CAN'T base it off of CS!!! and then i said it should be sp based and have deathmatch style mp. WHEN THE HELL HAS WARIO TEAMED UP WITH BOWSER TO PLANT A BOMB IN THE CASTLE?!?!?!

and here's poor little zappy over here, "i've been doing c++ for three years (which is exactly what you need)", and we're panicing about having no coders.

by the way, i feel important. when i play half-life, i just go out to quicksilver's extreme steam server. it means nothing to me. i just think it's a regular server. so anyways, i'm playing this map called "SubZero" and the credits pop up, "by DocRock". "holy cow! i know that guy!". so now after having a 20 minute conversation with quicksilver about the map he fixed up that we were playing, i come back on here and read the posts again. "holy cow! i know that guy too!"

SuperMechaCow, at least you have sense, if no one else does. Firstly, if the MP is cs based, then the SP can't be 'cos cs is MP only. And it would then be two mods, not one. Second, if you go mad with MP and neglect SP, I will kill you.

maybe just to be happy and agreeable a little mp (dmc with mario and the lots models...? and changed weapons obviously!
