I've got a ramp and a set of stairs (trying to decide which looks better). Both go up but also curve at a 90 degree angle, one right, one left. I used the Vertex Manipulator to create both (started w/ an arch. Also, underside of stairs is like ramp, smooth) and they display find in the Hammer 3D View. However, after compiling them, they become jagged in the map. I was wondering, is there a file like HLFix for the original engine, but in a Source version?

Can you post a screenshot? Perhaps it's a case of malformed brushwork. If not, though, yep, modelling is the option ;(

These are the items in question. I've got two angles on each so u can get an idea of what they look like. I'm trying to choose between them.

Really? I was leanin' towards the ramp. The slope on it looks cool for what the building is, a forward outpost at a secret high tech facility.

and for the problem, you probably have invalid faces. did you make the top of the stairs and the smoth bottom out of the same brush? becasue you can't do that and not have invalid solid structures.

Yes, I did. So that explains the stairs, possibly, but what about the ramp? I took the stairs, each level of which is it's own brush, and flattened it parallel to the smooth bottom to for the smooth top, yet it also becomes disfigured.
