whenver i try to create my test map for counter-strike it says it cant find the filesystem dll to load. also i can't get any textures to show up on my camera view. any ideas? is it a problem in my config? im new to this so im still trying to figure it all out. thanks!

Well, did you set up hammer the way you should?

ya i downloaded counter-strike, half-life, source, etc. through steam so i had to change everything so that it was through my steam account. i went back and double checked it seems as though everything is correct.

for the textures not appearing - click the little black rectangle in the top of 3D view and change it to 3D textured.

Your other problem means that something in the config is wrong.

when i click the 3D texturing a bunch of neon colored lines show up on the outline. i changed the game executable to the shortcut on my desktop now it will all compile but the game wont pop up and nothing happens. i think the problem is that i cant find my cstrike.exe file, steam has put it somewhere i cant find.

there is no cstrike.exe counter-strike uses the hl.exe which is found in your counter-strike directory of your steam apps.

I have steam half life and counter-strike and there are no problems with it.
Besides having to go further in the directory to get where you want but that's nothing.

use that for a basis for steam configurations

tried it and got the same deal, that it cant find the dll.

Search the forums before you post stuff, please.
