How would I make a message appear on your hud for a few seconds? I tried using an env_message, (tied it to a trigger) but it didnt work.

If you are talking about when it says press 'e' to grab objects etc then you use env_hint or something similar like env_hud_hint...Can't remember it exactly. Be warned that you have to look up the correct name of commands otherwise Hammer crashes and your map will always crash everytime you open it and so you have no choice but to open the VMF in .txt format and remove all notations of the entity.
