Hi, me again. I was wondering how it is possible to make keypads in half-life 2. Not the prop type, but the type that you can enter a certain code and open a door. I know in hl1 it used a multisource, but I have a feeling it is with the input/output system now. Please help!

Yeah I need to know the answer as well because I too want a keypad in my map. I'll look on forums a bit later.

Note to self, make an example map

It's all about outputs and inputs which locks and unlocks certain numbers.

For example, if the code is (easy one for example) 14, then you first need to press the number one, if you press anything else you will either need to redo everything or, an alarm goes on (or whatever you like)

So, all numbers but 1 is setup so that if you press anyone of them, the alarm goes on, however, if you press 1 it will remove the output on button 4 which makes the alarm go on, and instead you add an output on button 4 which opens a door or whatever your keypad does.
and then add an output on button one which does so that if you press one - the alarm turns on.

So, it's all about turning outputs on and off, I've never done it myself but I can tell that it is quite confusing.

Only one thing I don't know about this, how are you supposed to click these small buttons?

You look at them and you press E.

Wouldn't that result in pressing all of the buttons?
I mean, the "use-field" is bigger than the keypad

doesn't it "use" the one nearest the center if there are more than one?

Well I'm not sure where but I remember seeing or actually pushicng small things with the e and it was tricky to aim but directly pointing at it would enter it...

Just make the keypad ultra big ;)
