So basically.. What I am trying to do is have a way to play real video games at school (Not just crappy flash online games). Is there a technology that would let my remote desktop to my computer and play these games at a decent FPS... I tried doing RealVNC and I think it runs at like .4 FPS - unplayable not to mention the color depth is only 16-bit /cringe

Any thoughts/ideas? These damn Mac's wont let you install programs so that the only option I think would work lol

maby try the windows remote desktop thingie? That's pretty good. But, i doubt the school computers can handle all of the resources, not to mention the net traffic required.

Shouldnt you be learning/working in school?

Did I understand you correctly;

You got it right, Madcow.

I don't know of anything that'd let you do this smoothly : . Takes too much resources, and as someone mentioned, bandwidth, to transfer such huge amounts of data.

ZL is right.
I mean, we have a connection at home which allows you to control a computer through an other computer. (and this is LAN, not through the net or anything)
Our computers are quite fast, but yet, it would be impossible to play a game on one computer through an other.
It lags like hell.
Now imagen if you want to do this with two computers with a large distance, no way.

@Madcow: actually, that's not entirely true. I once networked two very fast computers... lan, and shared my HL folder on one, and run it off the other. It used all the data from one, and the processing power from the other. I did get some lag, but not much.... depends how good the school comps. are.

My guess, is good enough be worth it.

you can't network with anywhere near the bandwidth your gfx card shares with the rest of your pc, to do even a decent framerate would require a multi gigabit connection and would be like running fraps on your pc. Itll be many years before such a thing is possible.

Learning is for losers! Mostly in computer programming class learning things I already know...

I found a much better solution to the problem :P, as long as I install it on the Mac's hard drive and not my network storage space it lets me install things lol, 5 of us were having a Quake 3 Arena tourny :P

Oh and just for the hell of it - the schools computers are SHIIIIT! They probably paid like 200$ each for them maybe(but since our school has hundreds of them its understandable)- luckily comp programming has some of the newer ones but most of the computers cant even play a youtube video without lagging. you can install programs through Wordperfect. Thats what I did, you right click on the toolbar, and go to add, then add the install program that you downloaded, once added, you should see a little icon on wp toolbars, click it and install.
Now once thats installed to a certain directory, go and add another app to the toolbar, this time, select the games exectutive file, and add.
Once added, click on it in wp, and walla! The game launches. :)

I did this with an old silent hill demo, worked like a charm. :D
