Ive made a cube but its not textured correctly, im pretty sure i have the files in the correct places!

This is what it looks like:

Has anyone else had this problem or know whats wrong with it?

The .qc file must have incorrect details if the texture is not showing. If you haven't already check the tutorial on this site and if you don't find any answers try Iwannamap.com - There are a lot of XSI users there.

Check both the .QC as well as the .VMT. If either are incorrect or misspelled, you'll have that error.
