Upon launch of HL2..... Splash animation plays, then it quits to windows with the following box...

BOX TITLE: Engine Error
BOX TEXT: Platform Error: module failed to initialize.

Anyone ever get this? If so, how did U fix it?

I get that using some (old) versions of Half-Life 2 (crack'd/no steam).

My Steam is valid and legal, not crack'd

My point was that I get that error on old Source games. I think it's a hardware incompability problem. Try updating your drivers (graphics+CPU).

Funny thing is they are all updated, I was capable of playing the game 3 weeks ago.

Did you google it? Just google that error text and maybe throw in a "half-life 2". As with any error, you're not the only one to have it, but you might be the only one here.

Since tha error, I uninstalled and reinstalled - HL2 now plays, but the SDK wont start - it stops responding after about 30 seconds of inactivity

The page you gave me only confused me more - I don't have any Ep1 games OR Orange box.

"Preparing to launch Source SDK" comes on the screen.... within 15-20 seconds I get a box that pops up (

(contionued from above)

The "launching" box disappears and this comes up...

Clicking on "Check online......" comes up with nothing.

Funny enough, I've been having a few errors myself. Some of my games like to randomly crash... (by some I mean Source games). And Episode 2 in particular ALWAYS crashes at about the same point, whether I take a few steps or simple turn my character (using the mouse duh).

Maybe it's Valve's fault?

I just don't get it though - SDK has run on this machine before - I've searched their "knowledge base" for all sorts of things, come up with less than nothing... I wonder if anything IK've installed since then is conflicting, because I recently started getting HEAVILY into Flight Sim... I have Active Sky, X Graphics, Team Speak, all sorts shrugs
