Hey all I have this problem with my maps brightness, if I choose a.....hmmm....let's say a texture of a light colour, like yellow for example, it gets EXTREMELY bright when I play it and can't see anything. Hope anyone helps out a poor Newbie on his first days.

Are the maps lit at all? If not:

1. Did you include lights? If not, your compile tools will probably make the map "fullbright"

2. If you do have lights, perhaps they're too bright?

3. You might have a leak.

PS: Look at the tutorials here if you're getting started mapping.

Well I got past the starting map tutorial and I'm in Intermediate right now, and no, the map has no leaks, and I do have the light entity. It's probably that the lights are too bright but I don't know how to change the brightness. If anyone can help, appreciated.

hmm. check ur lighs.rad folder which if ur uzin zhlt u should have. open it in notepad n look 4 the texture. the 1st 3 numbers next 2 it are the colour of light. the number after em is the brightness. make it a smaller number. if its not in there add it. just put in the textures name (dont forget caps) exactly how it is in wc/hammer and give it colour and brightness

Light
Oh, and something else a lot of people fail to mention. The type of texture you use on the walls (if it's bright) can effect the overall brightness of your map.
