Not entirely sure where I should be posting this and I can't find anything at all on the subject of porting maps from other HL mods to others (google, this forum, readme's, tutorials etc etc) so I'll just throw the question out here and hope to not get burned!

Basically what I'm trying to do is take the popular Team Fortress Classic map "2fort", put it into Hammer Editor for Day of Defeat 1.3 and then add in DoD specific objectives into the map (flags etc).

That said, I have no idea to actually go about doing this. In a perfect world, I wouldn't have to recreate the entire map for DoD1.3 but meerly take the TFC's map (which runs on the same engine) and put in DoD parts. Is there anyway I can do this?

edit: I will add that I have seen this done before e.g - counterstrike 1.6 maps (dust, aztec etc) being converted to DoD maps. Exact recreations just with DoD flags put in so to me it seems fairly obvious they haven't completely built it from scratch, but taken the CS maps and added in DoD features. TFC is a Goldsrc game the same as DoD so I'm sure this will be possible

Thanks for any help

The best way to achieve this is to use a map decompiler to analyze the brushwork, and use that to recreate that map yourself.

Decompiling maps is actually very buggy and the result a horrible mess of deformed brushes once you open the .map file in Hammer, but it should give you an idea of the brushwork.

You can edit a map's entities without decompiling the map. I think a tool called ripent is bundled with the latest version of Zoners, that tool can export/import entities from/into a .bsp.
