My sound is messed up.

When I run Half-Life, the sounds that are already there, like footsteps or my custome wavs, go very soft, and when I turn my speaker to make the footsteps sound normal, I suddenly trigger a door or a break and my eardrums are ringing! OWWW!

WHat is going on!

Fiddle with your in-game sound settings.

update audio drivers and reinstall are good choices too.

modify your sounds

Check your speaker settings... That happens when i set my settings to 2/2 speakers, or Headphones (i have 5.1 OWNED)

thnks all, I'll try these ideas. What I can't figure out is why it happened so suddenly and only in HL.
