What happened to the site ? All my files are still there but the organization is now .. gone ( I don't have folders or things like these, just a list with my files) and all the links from my files are now dead links. They have new links and everywhere I posted links I have to sit and replace the links :| :|.

Also the max file size is now 600 mb, not 1 GB.

Didnt they shut down, then re-open?
It could be a result of that.... Maybe they got a new host, and everything's messed up

A lot of the site is weird. I was looking for some Silent Hill models made for Gmod that I could use for my own project and I came across tons of Filefront links which wouldn't work and so on. It's all a jumble.

Crap. Guess I have to log in and fix the links.
I did notice that it was different, WTF happened?
EDIT: What they should have done: Dear filefront users, we are about to [whatever happened] Filefront will be down for a short time, and we will have a new layout. You may need to update any links to your files. We apologise for the inconvenience.

But they didn't.

Like some of you might already know, Filefront was part of the Ziff Davis Media network of websites. Ziff Davis Media also publish a bunch of different magazines having to do with the information technology and gaming industries. The websites and magazines they own are too numerous for me to list here, but to make a long story short, the big and mighty Ziff Davis Media empire filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in order to restructure its debt and operations back in March 2008. As part of this, they sold some of their sites which include the following:

1UP.com
GameTab.com
GameVideos.com
MyCheats.com
FileFront.com

Like you can see, FileFront was one of the sites sold, but apparently the original founders of FileFront decided they wanted their old site back, so they bought FileFront back from Ziff Davis Media. Now, there is a little strange twist to this story which you can read here: http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:2t407dWLJFkJ:farewell.filefront.com/+Filefront&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk

Ziff Davis Media
OH oh yeah now everything is clear. They're responsible for shutting down PcMagazine Romanian version. That's because they decided to "save the trees" and make a PDF version of the magazine. But most of the people that were working at the romanian version didn't agree with this and it's been shut down.

The English version of PC Magazine also went PDF, in fact most magazines published by Ziff Davis Media are going digital or have gone digital already, and a whole lot of other publishers are doing the same. I myself have about 150 of these PDF book & magazine files on my computer, which are also known simply as e-Books. I am thinking about getting myself an Amazon Kindle DX, but I am waiting for it to go down in price a bit more, they are just too expensive right now.

Well that's what I was thinking of too, future readin will be assured by electronic paper. But it's too damn expensive.
I myself would find something like that very useful because I have lots of E-book on my pc, and the eyes hurt ...

Amazon's Kindle screen is completely different than LCD, it is actually more advance in how it displays images, but especially text. The screen technology that the Kindle uses is called "e-ink", and it is a relatively new technology compared to LCD. It is so new in fact, they are still working on a color version of e-ink. E-ink screens are also thinner than LCD's.

E-ink wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E_Ink

EDIT: The only other competing screen technology that I see rivaling e-ink in the long run is OLED: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oled
