I've got a point light sitting close under the lightbulb causing some harsh lighting.
I need it to be more uniform, or need some other way to make it look like the bulb is turned on.

What if you just use a spotlight pointing down, and a less bright pointlight for the ambient light.
Is there a disable shadows flag on that prop? I can't remember if that does anything for it...
