Hi,

I got a idea. Its not super original but the concept is nice.
Make a HL1 single player mod, chapters will be created by different mapping artist here from TWHL (or outside twhl whatever, you get the idea).

We only need a story, then devide that story into chapters. And each mapper will be connected to a chapter. With that info (story of the chapter) the mapper is gonna create the map.

The nice thing about this is we dont need to have maps with the same begin/end. When you finished a chapter you go to the next map. Each map is different, but the story will be the same in the whole mod.

WHO IS IN? LETS GET EXCITED!!

What.

Not like Issues or Reissues. Those packs are basically just maps stuffed together, each with its own storyline.

What raver is suggesting, is a mod with its own story, no individual maps with individual stories.

I like the idea.

High Alert

Hidden deep within a harsh valley, covered by forests and the harsh mountain wilderness, a city has been developing for over 20 years.

The vast underground civilisation of Libertas, funded by The Urban Independence Corporation (TUIC), is an experimental city and is inhabited by employees of the same company. The city was designed to be a totally independent complex, with all of its energy, food and water being created, recycled and reused with a series of development labs.

However, during an attempt to create a man-made renewable fuel source for powering the massive central generators, due to an incorrect element being brought into the process, a potent mutagenic virus was created. The scientists who came into contact with the liquid created in the subsequent chemical reaction began to transform into unspeakable and violent mutations.

The TUIC immeadiatly responded, despatching a cleanup team to the city to remove the dangerous chemical from the city via a convoy of tankers and destroy it. However, their transmission to company headquarters was intercepted by a rival company, specialising in biological weapons manufacturer who despatched a team of heavily armed mercenaries to ambush the convoy while it is still within the confines of the city. During their assault, one of the trucks was damaged during a collision, and the virus began to infect the inhabitants of Libertas.

This is by no means a perfect story, I just threw it together while watching TV. :rly:

Agreed with The Mighty Atom.

And The_(c)Striker, who really gives a crap whether it is similar to something that has been done before? Look at Call of Duty and the 9 million other great WWII games, are you going to call EA crazy for making more when they're just as enjoyable to play? No?

Any reason to make a map/mod is a good enough reason, and if you actually have a grand storyline it makes it quite a bit easier to do to be honest. So honestly Striker, stop saying shit just to say it.

Anyway, I like the idea as well raver. I'd be down for helping out as long as it begins soon as my fall semester starts in early September. After that I wouldn't have much time, if any at all, to devote to it. Maybe on weekends.

Urby: I like it, there coule be a cinematic opening scene that goes into the backstory of the complex and possibly even the truck collision. Perhaps the player could start as one of these mercenaries, then after seeing the effect of the virus on the human population he proceeds to eliminate either the virus itself, or the terroristic entities that wish to control the virus.

there's no texture at all on any of the text. Perhaps lower their opacities to 95% or something, just so they look like they're actually part of the sign, not floating above it.

I just needed to put UIC logo in to my map, but I have fail. So I just had to wait two hours until VHE compline a map I which already had.
I was making a MOD, but he died. So I still got some maps. Like this:

I know about some bugs, 99% fullbright, lack of detals.
