So here's the deal, I got a nice pair of Koss Pro4AA Titanium headphones, and they simply aren't putting out enough volume. I know they can go louder, but the sound controls on the computer are limiting it. I use soundmax digital audio. The volume is up ALL the way on this thing, I'm wondering if anyone knows of any way I can increase the volume put out by my computer, and therefore the headphones.

Use windows volume...? SoundMAX probably has a limit so your ears don't end up bleeding.

Soundmax pretty much integrates itself into the windows sound, the windows controls change as soundmax changes, for example:Compare to the soundmax controls, they're the same, and they change when the other changes, they're linked.

Set "Wave" to max.

got a little improvement, but it was almost up all the way as it is.

In device properties, have you set "headphones" or "earphones" or something like that? Maybe if you leave "speakers" it'll go louder.

Nope, didn't get any increase in volume.

you could switch programs and get yourself a better boost plug-in.....

are you headphones coming from the computer or a receiver? I feed all my sound into a real stereo receiver that way I can boost it and adjust it manually. this works out great while you are running a program or playing a game and don't want to switch back to the desktop. Get yourself a nice used receiver from a local pawnshop--I did....$20

Try right-clicking on your speaker icon, and open the volume mixer.Check your devices, and the volume levels for each. I once had a device called Total Recorder installed for recording audio streams directly from the "wave out" or speaker (because my sound card didn't have that option available).
The volume was turned down half-way for total recorder, and all my other audio devices sounded "quiet". Adjusting the volume for this device (which i guess was set as my primary device) or disabling it fixed the problem..
