How do you figure it's a port from consoles? It's just an engine update using the newer engine version from episode 2.

There are bugs. Some animations stopped working for me, namely Breen during the teleport scene. He never gets up from his desk.

The achievements are cool though most of them are just checkpoints. Had to scour Water Hazard to get "Vorticough" cos I couldn't remember where it was first time I found it.

The graphical changes are hardly noticeable.

Well, now I experienced the first problem:
I can't see the grid, nor the brushes(only props). But the 3D view works fine.
What's happening? :|

New Bug: Vehicle momentum is not carried over from map to map. In the airboat section, when going from one map to the next you stop dead in your tracks.

Indeed, Urby, very annoying.
Take a look at the HL2 forum on Steam. 30 new "I found a bug" kind of threads are created every day or so. I don't think we have to report anything.

So do any of you have the no-grid problem in hammer ?

[EDIT] Great. Now I can't connect to steam at all. It says something like "Steam is having problems connecting to the servers". I restarted the modem and even tried without the firewall.

I haven't run into any bugs myself as I play through Half-Life 2 again. But then again, it's after Valve had pushed out an update earlier today (June 4th). Perhaps that update had fixed some bugs already.

Overall, the visual is a noticeable improvement, particularly lighting-related effects. The reflective surface is perhaps the most obvious improvement (cubemap effect enhanced), but when weapons fire (I noticed it in automatic turrets), the flashback offers dynamic lighting. In addition, when you turn on the flashlight, the shadow casted by the bright flashlight is dynamic (it moves with the movement of the flashlight direction). This is most easily noticed when you shine the flashlight through a prop metal gate or fence in a dark spot.

I like it.

Yeah, that dynamic flashlight effect is awesome. Played ep1 a week or so ago. Had some problems with one achievement. Well I still do, but didn't play since then. The one where you help Alyx snipe 30 enemies.
