A lot of those patches are made redundant with Steam, surely?

Posted 13 years ago2010-12-22 19:40:39 UTC Post #288110
Not at all. Different versions of different mods require different versions of Half-Life in order to work. The Counter-Strike betas (or most of them, anyway) for example don't work with Steam Half-Life and they're in my opinion a lot more fun than the Steam version (1.6).

It took a few days to upload the files thanks to my low upload bandwidth. I've been collecting files for a little over a year. Compiling the list didn't take long, I let a JavaScript script do most of the formatting for me.

Look at the list to the right on this page: http://www.amxmodx.org/stats.php

WANTED! I haven't played that mod in like 10 years. It came with the very first release of CS I think. Along with HLDM, Redemption, DMC, OP4 multiplayer (only), Ricochet and a few others. Oh boy, the memories.

Wanted! didn't come with the HL1 anthology, it's a third-party mod.

Wanted! isn't a third-party mod, Valve contracted Maverick Developments to develop it and Absolute Redemption and they were both included on several Counter-Strike CDs.

it's still third-party as it isn't for sale on steam, now is it?

Wanted! didn't come with the HL1 anthology
Yes. Yes it did. As did ricochet and another couple of mods I've completely forgotten about.

It was a 4-disc box with HL1, Blue Shift, Opp4 and CS, as well as the mods and a copy of worldcraft :)

Edit:
Actually, just remembered it also came with Deathmatch Classic and Team Fortress Classic

Hey brotatis, I'm not trying to sound evulz here or anything but, you do know that filefront only hosts files for a couple of months before they get deleted? It happened to most of my old maps I uploaded there... I saw that you uploaded these files to filefront, so it'll only be a matter of time before they're down again.

Okay guys, I've downloaded all of the linked files on this thread and hosted them here:

http://files.logic-and-trick.com/Half-Life/

If I get some time later on I'll knock up a quick custom file listing site, but for now the default Apache listing will suffice.

EDIT: There, I made a custom file listing thingie. If the files aren't working for you, wait a while for your ISP's DNS cache to update itself.

Prefablab Archive from 1999

It contains 132 prefabs for Half-Life 1. Some of them are very good, some of them are not so good, and some have brushwork errors. Uploaded them because it seems the PrefabLab is dead since 2008 or when(a lot of hl-related sites were dead since the almost same years, isn't it odd?). Yeah, I know everybody's opinion about prefabs, but.. meh. Good for inspiration and those of you who still love mapping for hl1.

]

I don't have much use for prefabs, because I know my way round Hammer and can make my own with my own textures which I know will fit, but what I could really use is royalty-free goldsource models.

Someone linked a massive archive in the shoutbox a few days ago, but only a couple suited my needs. Anyone else know where to find some? The selection on the Snarkpit is embarrassingly small.
