i;m making a map where a fence runs around almost the whole map(think of something like nuketown with fences all over), and i made the entire set of fences one func_detail. is this ok, or should i break up the fence into smaller "chunks" or sepaerate func_details. (I seem to remember a problem with goldsource transparent fence textures, that not all the sides would render properly if you made the entire fence one func_wall..)

OR, would it be even better to Propper the whole thing into a model?

Well if you make the whole thing one giant func_detail, so long as you can see one little part of it, the entire thing is going to render.

I would suggest breaking it into small parts.
