This might make me unpopular, but I think you should have to take 2 minutes and sign up before posting to the forum. We could have a page explaining the handy little "find" button, and a warning that they will be taunted if they ask a stupid questions that have already been covered in the forum, the example maps, and the tutorials.

Agree with the first part...
Not so sure about the second bit though.
The problem with being a noob, is that you are a noob!
Sometimes concepts like reading tutorials are difficult, and forums can be daunting first time around.
It is reasonably easy to spot people who are true noob's (just point them in the right direction), and just as easy to spot dimwit's who couldn't be bothered to read the tutorials (ignore them).

exactly. i hate anoymous posts and stupid posts like "how do i set up worldcraft 3.1?" or other stupid posts. just sign up. contrary to popular belief, it doesnt take long 2 sign up. n id also like 2 c an end to those bloody posts with people asking how 2 make cs maps, ignorin every1's advice of learnin hl mappin first and turning out a map that ends up a room with all the walls covered in their name and some hostages on 1 side and a rescue point on the other with some blocks in the middle.

but then there are way too many members, and it gets confusing to remember all of them. There are enough that haven't posted since 2002 here as it is!

I fail to see why you would want to remember all the names of the members? (ed:Andy)

Andy:
?que? Concepts like reading tutorials are hard? C'mon, if you're smart enough to attempt mapping you should be smart enough to read the tuts. If you can figure our Hammer you can figure out how to use that beautiful little FIND button. And who needs the tuts more than newbies?

newbies:
Let this be a warning (if you newbies read this, lol): If you make post like I mentioned above I will taunt you and possible question your ancestry Monty Python style.

brattyLord:
So we set it up to delete accounts due to inactivity. Chances are if you haven't posted since 2002 you're not coming back! And you don't need to remember them all, just your friends and enemies - who else matters?

Craash If I see you taunting actual newbies who actually has difficulties with these things then I will taunt you. There's no shame in asking these questions if they have tried to their greatest ability to get it done properly before posting. :

He said he's talking about people who don't bother trying at all who then post stupid things.

yep, i agree wiht almost all the things but if we have it about idle members,.... then a lot of people would be deleted form databases from serval website, you will always have it

its funy how one topic can turn to mud slinging over 5 posts or so

bottom line is :

your audience will love you if you take time to polish off your mapping before you release your maps.

Leave old members here...some of them pop back every so often. It's unfair on them. Only remove Kaptain_Krunch and Silent Bob, and that other friend of theirs who was commenting on "Krunch's" cs maps. Also, don't taunt people, some are naturally REALLY thick.
