I always said I will never invest money in adding features to a game that is already fun, especially TF2 where we find items for free from time to time.

Unfortunately, the temptation was too high and I bought a key for the mann co supply crate. I received the DEFAULT spy melee weapon- the knife(balisong).

I'm not saying 2 euros is a lot(it is), but this is pure wallet rape.

I'm never doing this again in my life. Scumbag Valve :/.

Any similar experiences?

Lol, the 100 dollar useless rings alone should tell you how this system works.
But yeah, don't bother buying anything.

That's how crate's work Skals, sometimes it's normal junk sometimes it's priceless stuff. The hat that people constantly hound me for came from a crate. My bro and I would buy eachother a few keys for birthdays/xmas and the like. We each got 1 unusual out of it.

I think comparing it to rape is pretty silly. No one forced you to buy the key. Rape is forced, that's the whole point.

Are you sure it wasn't a "strange" knife?
You can get strange versions of vanilla weapons from crates. They keep track of how many kills you get with said weapon.

Wait, yeah, what? You can't get the default weapons from crates that makes no sense.

Is the name text Orange?

Wait, you're right Soup, it's the strange knife. Either way, it's not something special.
Blitz, rape or not, this was not fair. Anyway, I don't want to make it look like I'm whining here, it was my decision and I was expecting this, I just can't believe how unfair it is.
Also, I am not skals :P.

Lost interest in TF2 as soon as the items came into it really. Certainly wouldn't pay for something I could find for free. My lifestyle means that would be a fairly stupid thing to do. :P

TF2 was a great game until hats were introduced. Quit playing right after.

This thread reminds me of the VGcats comic strip on this topic.

lol derp moment, idk why i called you skals... sorry

Really? I was under the impression strange items were sought after. I'm sure some back-stabbing douchbag spy would love to count his stabs. Ah well, idk much about items anymore I've not been playing for quite some time.

And urby, I don't think unusuals drop. So in my case and my bros case, we actually both got something we couldn't get for free.

Obviously not everyone feels the same way! 'tis all good.

I only ever bought one item: The Machina sniper rifle people got for pre-ordering Deus-ex. I never buy keys and if I want something otherwise I just trade for it.
