Peoples of TWHL! I would like to get back into the world of programming micro processors. The only thing is, I don't know where to start... I tried getting the TI launch pad but I honestly don't know where to begin because with that because it's just the chip. I'm looking to read digital and analog inputs, control digital and analog outputs, and possibly communicate on an RS-232 network.
Can an arduino do all this?
Are they easy to get into?

Arduino is your best choice for starters.

But doing it old school with a programator and hand made circuitry is more rewarding :)

And more fun, definitely. But it requires a few extra design and construction steps before you can get your hands on actual programming.
