Kinda strange question, and definitely subjective.

Play the maps you enjoy and figure out what makes them fun for you, then include similar elements and scales.

I always loved Nuke and Train.

Do you mean the scale of.. rooms? Or engagement times or something? Maybe time how long it takes to run to the bombsites for each team in your favourite de_map and try to have a similar time in your own creation.

There's no perfect answer to this question.
Room size is dependant on the kind of gameplay you want to emerge in that room.

thanks for your review. I googled why nuke, train, dust are good maps. After a bit of research i found pretty good results.
Anyways thanks for your time. :D :D :D

Measure a map in walking time. Take dust2 for example, you can walk for maybe 10s before you encounter an enemy. Fy_iceworld, thats more like 1s.

If you want fast paced, smaller open maps are good. Slower paced with more sniping, larger. Experiment!

I'd suggest you to also try to make a es_ map, as_ map or dm_ map. Those gametypes are dying out as far as I know. There are even some csde_ or asde_ maps I think, I saw two or three once.
