I simply wanted to ask: is there a way to fill the gray box seen on the picture for HL mods? And if so please tell me, how to do that?

I think you can right click on it and choose a custom image. There is no way for mod authors to distribute a custom library cover in such a way it gets picked automatically that I’m aware of, but you could distribute it with your mod and instruct people on how to set it manually.

It is possible but requires some minor editing and conversion work.

Several mods I own got this implemented and it works without any actual doing on my part.
