Well, i have a small problem when compiling my dod map. The compiling itself runs fine. But when the game start it says
Error: Failed to transmit file: sound/C

I have just type soundambiance(name).wav in my entities, but i do not understand what the program means with sound/C.

Can anyone help me?

That means that the wav file is not in the correct folder. Where did you put it? I had this same problem a while ago, check the forums before posting, you might get an answer. You need to put it in the sound folder in the mod it is in. Is this for your own MOD or just valve? IF it is valve, put it in valvesoundambiance. If that stil don't work, it might be formated wrong. Check old forums, I had this problem a lot.

Well, im using it for dod mapping, so placed it in the soundambience folder in dod, in steam.

But even though i try to move all the sounds to my original half life folder as you say, and the hammer folder, it makes the same problem, so....

Anyone else has a suggestion, about where the fault is?

just remember that your error means its outside the folder it should be in. Also remember that steam is crap.

Try putting forward slashes.

Oh, sorry. The above is a spelling mistake. I have been using foward slashes. I have tried to type both sound/ambience/uspointcaptured.wav f.ex. and just ambience/uspointcaptured.wav. And i have tried to move it to all posible folders concerning sounds in half life, but it still makes the same problem.

It says; Error: Failure to transmit file: sound/C four times, which i do not understand... so does anyone else has a suggestion.

From tommy14:
Wavs are tricky. You must use the perfect path/name, with the right capitals; sometimes even just adding or dropping the .wav extension in the name can fix things. If there are many wavs, you have to watch your sound card channel limits, or you will lose sounds/ambient_generics/wavs.

If the problem is a custom wav, it has to be under the max size limit of less than 3 minutes, in the right format. (format is: unsigned, 8bit, mono, one start cue, 11025Hz PCM.)

You can also try typing developer 3 into the console while playing the map, then walking through a trigger that targets the wav. The report may give a hint as to what is wrong.
