Hello I am making a mod for HL and I need to know how to put music(MP3 or WAV format) on my menus, so when you open my mod up it plays music. How can I do this if I can?

I don't think you can do this. I'm not entirely sure however.

You can, Sven Coop did it, its called "coding"

You can with Steam, you just put the .MP3 in the mod directory and call it... something. I was sure I had an example in Counter-Strike but I'm afraid I can't find it.

Hack hack hack, all day long, hack hack hack, while I sing this song.

Hack away at HL, my friend, and you shall be able to add menu music. I believe bryce_boi had a spirit modification or something on his site that allowed music playback...check it out.

Just learn to code. It's not easy, but if you are serious about stuff like this, you would be bothered to spend some time on it.

Your best resource would be the library or bookstore. Most of them have books on coding.

As for a tutorial, go:

http://www.cprogramming.com/tutorial.html

or google C++ tutorial. I found a large number of decent results.

It didn't work :( its a command prompt :( :(
Posted 19 years ago2004-07-19 15:30:20 UTC Post #42836
It is command line based and command line options can be long and confusing, but try it anyway. Oh, btw, there is a problem with using the .net compiler with the sdk. Theres is a supposed problem with a line in hud_spectator, but the error dont happen under vc++ 6. So if the toolkit dont work, get vc++ 6 instead.
