nummarkfaces == MAX_LEAF_FACES
Too many faces. Make a smaller map, reduce some polys, something.

As for the other errors, hit alt-p in Hammer and fix any errors. If none come up, use the Go To Brush Number feature of Hammer and delete all teh brushes listed in the Compiler log that cause errors.

Also, find and download ZHLT. These tools replace the old 'qrad', 'qbsp' etc.

Ah yes, that might solve a few problems.

As well as giving a better explanation to the problems.

1. Get ZHLT before proceeding
2. Alt+P, then delete all the "invalid solid structure" brushes.
3. DO NOT CARVE EVER

MAX_LEAF_FACES... what're the chances you carved with a cylinder? This doesn't mean there are too many brushes, just that they're so horribly arranged that it tortures and kills VIS. http://www.slackiller.com/tommy14/errors.htm#leafface.

never carve, even though the "in the beginning" tutorials ues carving (someone should really update those HINT HINT NUDGE NUDGE WINK WINK) instead make each brush individually. you will find mapping alot easier if you take time to make each wall yourself rather than hollowing. another great tip is to keep snap to grid on and only change it with the [ and ] keys. this can stop leaks quite well if you only build walls and other hull brushes with snap to grid at 64 units.

In addition to carving with Cylinders, don't hollow them, either. The result is a sloppy cylinder brush that causes invalid solids if theyre high-poly. (ie 32.) Hollowing a 5-sided one might not be a problem.

So if i'm not mistaken, the max_leaf_faces error tells you that you b0rked something in your map causing VIS to render an obscene amount of vis leafs, often caused by carving/shattering/intersecting brushes, due to those less-than-1 unit gaps created by carving? That'd be my guess as to why it's happening, unless every brush in your map intersects...but it might not happen even then.
