i try to out an info_player_start in my map
i cliked on the entry tool and in the drop down menu the is no entres just blank
really need help

Put this : Game Data File (aka fgd) in your Tolls / Options / Game Comfigurations / Game Data Files menu.

It doesnt matter where teh FGD is. Make sure you have the most recent version of the FGD from http://dev.valve-erc.com/?go=fgd . I know the hl-cs.fgd in the CS GCF does not work for a few people and appears blank.

hmm, your sure you got a game configuration, if you have it i can only recommend one thing, reinstall hammer. this is one of those errors you can get. i think it is a bug in hammer.

Yes, I've had this before but restarting Hammer seemed to fix it. Reinstalling would be a good idea, and if you have VHE 3.5, reverting to 3.4 might be an idea.

nah I prefer wearing my underpants on my head!!, that thing i posted shld have had a link in it, but i copy/pasted from another post with the same problem. if you have no entities you have no fgd. and it does have to go in the right place (i mean you have to set hammer to use it)

reinstalling, yes, but only if putting an actual working fgd in the right place does nothing. i'm sure you're just making a simple error..

I know for a fact (as in that I just downloaded the FGD from DDR) that the one they have works. If it doesn't work for halfhack, then reinstalling seems like an easy way to try and correct the problem.

Yes, you need to set FGDs up in hammer to use them. It doesn't matter where they are placed in explorer, however. I've had FGDs lying around in the C drive, on the desktop, and in My Docs and it worked ok.
