I have been mapping for some time in Radiant, and am trying to get the Hang of Hammer, for the upcomming HL2.

When I went to compile my very simple starte map i got a (condensed version of errors) 'can not find test.prt' (test is the map name), and 'no vising'.

I know its probly something real easy, can anyone help me out?

read this tutorial to configure hammer correctly. it should work after you do everything here:

http://www.cariad.co.za/twhl/tutorial.php?id=47

make sure to download zhlt, and use it in the "Build Programs" tab.

get zhlt here:

Yes, I did that tut for the Hammer config, checked it, then checked it again. Believe me, I would not ask here untill I had done everything twice. I try to be very thorough. = )

"cannot find pts file"
xxxx.pt# and xxxx.pts are files made in compiling by the compiling tools. Usually when you get "can't find .pts" it means something went wrong with compile. It could be a bad setup you made for the compile, or you're Running WC/hammer thru normal instead of expert, or having "too many wads", or corrupted compiling tools (rare but happens), a bad path/name somewhere, or several others. The solution is generally to use a front end or batch file with zoner's compile tools, then the problem usually goes away or the compiling error becomes clear.
from tommy14's errors page.
