Due to the amount of multiple entries submitted, the results will take a while.
I am waiting on a short listing of finalists from Seventh.
Once I get that I will pass on the information to Atom.
This could take a few weeks, but the results will be out by the end of the month... hopefully.

Wow, there must be much more entries than usual.
I was hoping to see a new compo during the next week.
I guess, I'll have to make my own mind up for a new map then.

I'll be as quick as I can, just gotta decide, basically, more glass-themed vs. better map overall.

I see myself standing little change.

School is such a... well, not that bad but not really good for mapping. You'll understand me when you've seen my entry. Kinda... unfinished...

But hey, good luck on judging them!

@Seventh: The compo was meant to be about glass. Try and choose the entry which you think was the best glass-themed map, but still wouldve come close (Top 5) if you were judging "Better map overall."

Have fun judgin'! Glad to hear your entry was unfinished Captain P! For my sake anyway :P

:D

Lets face it dude, your entry was'nt about glass at all. Hmmm, only 2 windows, and a dolphin model, nothing more. Allthough, i must say that the dolphin looks really nice! Good job on that. ;D

Seventh and I have discussed the entries.
The Compo was about Glass and that is how it will be judged.

There were some notable entries that had really good maps...

But glass was the theme and I am still dissapointed that No One submitted a simple Stained Glass window...
That would have got my vote.

Atom will have the results before the end of the week, so you can expect the results next week sometime.

Well if I would've known a stained glass window would've won, I would've done it! A stained glass window with a kangaroo and a koala and a dingo eating them both. I probably would've stuck in your avatar in the window as well..... Oh wait, that sounds a bit suck-upish.... :D

Plain boring glass, with colour, and a pattern which often makes a picture.

Uhm, i got something like that in my entry, allthough its not really a picture, its more like a mosaic, you know.

Yeah, I thought of yours when Andy said that.

I was hoping for something physics-y, like prisms and stuff. Somebody mentioned doing one, but it never materialised :(

I planned a prism room, a gems room and several other things but allas, it never got finished.

I'm pretty bad at keeping a compo's subject anyway, I guess...

Although I do hope my glass dolphin did at least some of the job though...

*alas ;)

Shame you couldn't do anything more glass-specific. Ah well, havta wait and see what Andy decides :)

Yeah, a real shame. 2 weeks I was able to work on the map, 2 weeks I had school to deal with.

My plan for this map was to have a sculptures room (of wich only one got finished and it's lighting wasn't tweaked), a gems room above it (the room with the fire), an interactive prism room that could unlock you a secret, and possibly also some sort of guidance, in the shape of a floating crystal, that would guide you trough the whole map.

Again, I underestimated the amount of work and forgot to incalculate the effect of school. As for now, I've got some other things to do (skinning for Starlabs, a DM map of my own), so I'll not join a next compo anytime soon.
Ah, well, we'll see...

Aah, that fire room did seem rather empty. I thought perhaps a dining area with a big table.

I had more of a museum in mind, actually, but a dining table could've been nice too. With some glassworks spread out on it...

We're doomed! DOOMED! Well, I am anyway. mine is imaginative, the architecture on the upper floors is good, but the downstairs is shocking, and the map is poorly executed. I hope I get originality points.

I've got it all ready, just gotta decide amongst the top three positioners.

you guys need more imagination.

I started on a map, but didn't finish it.

It was an electric fence that fell over in a map where Gordan is escaping from the g-man. It was in a desert, so when the electricity hit the sand, glass formed all over the area. some of it broke, and some of it just sat there. Either way, that canyon was a dangerous, slippery one.
Posted 19 years ago2004-09-19 10:13:01 UTC Post #60640
Sounds interesting.
Why don't you finish it and put it onto the MV?
Posted 19 years ago2004-09-19 10:57:24 UTC Post #60643
Very imaginative and clever too; pity you didn't finish it, it'd probably've won if it was done well. I missed the expected prism stuff too :(

I through a glass maze in as an added bonus cause someone made me one. Really, not a major point of the showcase compared to the start room and yard.

I also did a prism with lasers to split it into the rainbow. :D

Come to think of it, I fit quite a bit of shit in that small map.
Posted 19 years ago2004-09-20 17:26:06 UTC Post #60864
well, maybe I will finish it later. It can go in my todo bin, lol. I am certain that I will map for the next compo though, whatever it may be.

A few short questions.

Has the decision about the next compo been made already?
Has it been sent to atom?
How long does it usually take from sending it to atom till seeing it on the site?
Posted 19 years ago2004-10-08 13:52:02 UTC Post #64865
I'm fairly sure it's been sent to atom.

As for how long it takes... nobody knows.

Really?

You know, saying a pointless remark like that isn't a great way to get attention of your fellow friends and peers.
