1- I?ve done something funny: created a model key and then use it for its picking up and opening of a locked door... Do you consider this interesting enough to make a tutorial about it???.
2- I?d consider neccesary for mod makers a tutorial about weapon making for newbies or people who don?t know a word about coding. It could be specially interesting the code section that could be just the code rip with explanations about what things the parts of the code do... Would it be possible to do a tutorial about it?.
And thats all!!!!.

1-Sounds cool! DO IT!
2-Make a tut. on that as well. I REALLY suck at that. Well, I don't know how for starters. I know how to edit the models and skins of weapons, but...

Right, I?ll do this key stuff no one has done before (I think :P) but I don?t know in wich format I should do it... A txt with some Jpgs in a Zip for someone to upload in a proper way???... I wouldn?t care to write the txt and to take the sreenshots (as soon as someone tells me how to take screenshots from Hammer) as well as to do example maps and models and so on if anyone uploads it nicely. Of course, I?ll be credited as author :P.
And on the weapons stuff... Well, I don?t know how to make it so I can?t write a thing. Maybe someone knows how to do it and helps us.

Hmm... A coding sec. in the tutorials will be very good.. seeng as how some people are already advancing to more complex acpects of mapping

/me thinks of a coding tut about the head tilting like in bs when strafing... hmmm

did that make sence?

i thought so

Model Making is a little beyond the scope of the site, but I am willing to look at anything you might come up with.
The idea of getting it to open a door is already covered in the tutorial Security Key's but that uses a key that already exists in HL.
If you want to write a tutorial, all I need are the example RMF's and the text. (using a simple text editor like NotePad) No need to send the screenies, and please zip the lot together.
As for a coding tutorial, If anyone is really good at it, and can decipher all the complex ideas and turn out some text that makes sense to the New Mapper, then feel free to put it down and send it to me.

Well, the thing is that I planned to do the tutorial with these points:
-Create your own key (brush based, little weird but works).
-Create your own key (model it and use generic_monster since I don?t know how to code a pickable object).
-Set the door.
-Set a series of messages that will inform you whenever the door is locked or when it has been opened.
-Set sounds.
-Set the key pick up method (using or walking over it).
As you can guess, Andy, it?s a very simple thing but I found it attractive, specially for newbies like me. It involves lots of useful stuff (triggers, multi managers, multisources, sounds...) that can be of interest and used in other things (damn, my studies are posessing me, i tend to found it all in connection with other things!!!).
If you want to see the tutorial I?ll send it to you soon for you to look at it and correct.
Be happy.

The Beta is send to Andy so it will be available soon... Please, be patient with me, is the first thing I write :P!!!!.
Anyway, I could do nothing with the code thing Vassy, sorry. Currently
I?m triyng to work on it but I prefer to leave it for another tomorrow because ? haven?t even released my first map yet!!!. How can a newbie do a word about coding :D!!!???.
By the way, soon I?ll release a beta that has around the half of the maps (what is completed by now) for my little mod (done in Vassy?s style, yeah!!!). I?d be very happy if you check it out, my mapping skills evolution (so little for now) can be seen in it from its original cube-carved map to my first try of complex architecture stuff!!!. Sure I?ll have to remap the first map... It really sucks!.

Hmmm, what is a Splash Screen Seventh?, it is the image shown behind the main menu?. Well, I?d like to know how to change it and it would be great if feautures some screenshot of the Maps (the main hall, mainly) with a Gordon Freeman in first plane :D, I?d love that. Would it be possible to do it?.
Played your Cause of Death last night... Really true mapping art!!!, you know, still I?m downloading a few maps each week, to learn from the more experienced maps.

Yeah, that's the screen I mean :)
Rofl, thanks for "mapping art" :D - not all my work, remember, mine and John_Crichton's. I'm not really that experienced, y'know: I learnt everything I know (absolutely no exaggeration) except for custom textures from this very site!

Just keep practising and asking q.s!

"life after bush, and gorbechov/the wall is down, but something's lost/turn on the news, it looks like a movie/makes me want to sing Louie Louie!!!"

(yeah,'m at school - but I brought the song wi'me :)

Hmmm, That was Andy?... Well, so, I?ve go to make the maps... It won?t take more than a day when I get to it (maybe tomorrow)... As soon as I have it I?ll send it along with some modifications for the text.
