I have downloaded the new half life FGD and hammer beta, but i cannot seem to see the models in 3d view.

What entities are the models meant to display for?

i have used an info_tfgoal with the model set and it doesn't display

p.s. all models used are in my models folder

info_tfgoal? I've never heard of that entity before...

Genereally speaking, the models should show for the monster_whatever, cycler_whatever, weapon_whatever and the info_player_start.

Make sure you've unpacked the models (GFCScape to unpack the Steam version and Pakexplorer to unpack the WON version) to the correct folder, for the correct mod. Make sure everything is set up correctly in Hammer and it should work.

you can use models that are still packed into teh gfc simply byu entering their correct name, the ymay not show up in hammer btu they will be there in the game.

Well, it shows how little these guys put into this site (not saying I do), but the fact that there is around 6 topics, all started this week, on this exact subject, featuring myself helping several people with their problems, and providing a very detailed and comprehensible guide to setting up hammer to use teh models. it would take no more than 5 minutes to scroll down the forum and look for related topics, let alone searching for them god forbid.

I apologise for teh "outburst" but it is frustrating to answer teh same question again and again, time after time.

I really think some kind of sticky needs to be employed.

Or a website with a series of text book answers we can go to, copy and paste into a thread to answer a standard question.

Good point P&L, some sort of FAQ would be a good idea, and has been attempted, but at the end of the day most people don't read FAQ's nor do they read help files...

How can you play HL, and not go online, what do you do? not being funny, but what else is the pc good for, I mena, there's pron and games, and music, and... hmm

x-ice, you fix your problem, did you manage to locate the search button, any thread that I am the last poster in and has''model' in teh title, has prbly got a solution.

Anyway, depending on the model, and the age of your tf, you prbly won't even be able to use a model without the new dll's.

Also, teh entity (in case you don't search) is a cycler_sprite and a cycler.

Peace and LOve: Obviously, if I cared, I'd do an upgrade. Also, did you consider issues such as AVAILIABLITY? Our phone lines and everything are underground since we live in a fairly new area. So no BB yet. Besides, I've got an unlimited deal with my ISP so I can download whatever I want.

I find gaming online to be boring anyway. I play and map single player only.

Online gaming makes the pc great, admittedly (spelling fs) you have to put up with nubs, but hey, at least you get to shoot them at the end.

I don't get this whole 'unlimited download' thing, I've seen it on TV, but only advertised with (holds back the vomit) AOL (can't hold back the vomit..), I get unlimited everything, and I'm on ntl =/

What's there to get? There's no download limit.

Honestly, I couldn't be arsed about online gaming. And the area I'm living in is nice and new, so at least I have a nice big house!

info_tfgoal doesnt work.. The HL entitie fdg only works for HL. like monster_furniture or, pretty much any monster entities. Dont use that fdg if you are making tfc maps, ive already made that mistake before

Idd, when making a map for a particular mod, you browse to teh mod's base folder and use the gamename.fgd =/

Anyway, I already said how to use models.
