well i was creating my map and i minimized it to go onto IRC and check messages. anyhoo i reopened the map and everything was untextured. i quit and restarted steam. all of my play games listing was ogne including the sdk and all my custom maps/content for steam. I checked the folders and i have nothing. i have "sourcemods" containing nothing. nothing's left...i restarted 4 times and ran ad aware/nortan antivirus. my system is clean and i would do the system restore thing except i'm on windows 2000. The end is near....we can only wait till steam succeeds its evil plan of ruining every computer in existance.

TEH END OF VALVE

Get ready fellow TWHL men...
Crowbars at the ready...
3...
2...
1...
CHARGE!
Jax runs into the main office and matrix dodges the plasma bullets fired by the combine set up in Gabe's office then leaps on top of Gabe knocking him down, and lodges the crowbar firmly into Gabe's head...

Then time stops and Atom appears almost nowhere and says "Well done Jax, I have recommended your services to my fellow colleagues Seventh-Monkey and Andy"

LOL

remind you of anything?

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS! (its should say)

As Jax killed Gabe IEMC stole all of the sources for the Half-Life BSPs for HL1 and HL2 and then sells them on the interent.

Beware of undead-Gabe, he'll grab the Crowbar off the VALVe coffee table and threaten to get on a plane and come after you.

Just like he did when the haxor stole the source code.

Gabe Is Dead, long live teh leet TWHL!

We will unite against other clans such as CS-Geeks Anonymous and HL-Haxxors. (MoP are you a spy from HLH?)

TWHL now controls the striders and the combine army, and the xen, and the rebels so now we can spread our mostly elite mapping skills across the globe!

All members hold their crowbars high up in the air infront of teh mighty Atom
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-06 23:30:45 UTC Post #82153
Now I am thinking I should make a HL? map on the "Storm through VALVe" Where you must make your way through Valve destroying the four Steam machines and the combine. Then you must enter Gabe's office where he has teamed up with Bill Gates, Gabe then escapes out the window into a strider. Then you must Destroy the strider and you save all steam users in the world. After that you must control the scientists to create HL?!

That idea isnt Half-Bad!

yes, its all bad. :P

Don't agree,
I run Steam and haven't had any problems that couldn't be sovled with the normal use of google and the Steam Support page.
My connection is 128k ISDN.
I wouldn't want to do it with a 56k Modem, and that is the only thing I see against it.

yes.. - bit late now though.

Tried posting without reading over :(

Andy, what do you mean, you're saying that people should actually DO SOMETHING, and SEARCH? ON THEIR OWN! Eegad man, you're insane!

i'd rather go http://steamingpileofshit.com

Still Andy, you must agree with this;

Steam isn't nearly as good as they promised

If it works, im fine with it. And it works for me.

Of course, it is an anoyance sometimes.

A French philosopher once said, that self-esteem is equal to your Success / [divided by] expectation.

To get more self esteem, lower expectation ;)

Everyone had high hopes for Steam, and when it didn?t deliver more than was expected, people complained. And everyone else joined in (sheep)

Steam isn't nearly as good as they promised
I don't remember reading the promises?
What were they?

Were they similar to the "Gratest Mod in the univers ned's help" posts that seem to be flooding this site ;)
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-08 20:08:55 UTC Post #82700
Not exactly but i remember reading something about "faster, smarter and easier gaming" some crap like that. and thay also said that you could sell games via Steam, and thus it would make it a lot easier for mod makers and so on, they wouldn't need to have a distributer (sp?).

They never said anyting about harrasing people and forcing them to use an unstable program to be able to play games they have bought. what happened to free will?

i don't want steam taking up my system resources. And i fear the day when i have to format again, and then i have to download hammer and the sdk again from steam. why not include it with the game?
