Don't use any of those shitty p2p apps, ending with "za" "wire" or similar.

USE NEO MODUS DIRECT CONNECT!
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-07 21:32:46 UTC Post #82367
Yes, I learnt my lesson a long time ago with P2P networks... My WinMX is the only one that didnt bring in any viruses!

What is this NeoModus? Have you found it to be the best?
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-07 21:52:44 UTC Post #82373
but WinMX is soooo slow.

Yes, i agree WinMX is slow
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-07 22:42:33 UTC Post #82417
Jax: It's direct connect, lots of people use DC++. It's simply the best, biggest (most files, biggest sharesize), fastest, most active p2p out there.
The only tricky thing is to find a good hub.. I suggest a "local" one.
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-07 22:48:37 UTC Post #82421
i dont understand those. :(

WinMX = haha sucks. phucking slow.
DC = Ownage. But too many people uses NetLimiter.
Torrent = Best. But crappy when you want one or couple songs..
KaZaa = Well, If you search pr0n you get pr0n and if you DONT search pr0n, you'll get pr0n. oh.. and teh pr0n is gaypr0n or just crappy pr0n with 2042424242^2 spyware with it.

lol

Anthony: I must persuade you to use BearShare - its got more files than WinMX, and is a lot faster for dialup users - especially serches.

The only downside, is cleaning out the crappy "weather" proggy that comes bundled with the install.

Nothing ad-aware SE can't handle though ;)

I've had nothing but problems with DC :(
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-08 11:22:43 UTC Post #82550
Everyone who has problems with DC (probably the easiest p2p app out there) gets an idiot-mark right away. And possibly a hug.
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-08 11:24:12 UTC Post #82551
it's extremely simple :)

Posted 19 years ago2005-01-08 18:26:54 UTC Post #82641
I think my problem was the Hub thing - My HDD is twice as small as the Minimum share values of most hubs.
:(
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-08 18:30:25 UTC Post #82643
I only share 2 gig atm. before i formatted i shared about 8 and that was enough for me :)
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-08 18:32:18 UTC Post #82645
i'd love to use DC. but my router wont let me. stupid router.

i just use limewire. i love turning on the lttle thing that lets you see what people are searching for. people are looking for:

firsttimeauditions
wicky wicky
showerboys
peppers red chili i you for
screensaver
haz like blac what
standingasana5

and many other pointless files they'll never find.
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-08 18:35:29 UTC Post #82648
Why won't it "Let" you?

SHOW IT WHO'S THE BOSS!
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-08 18:36:16 UTC Post #82649
Showerboys?!
Ew man ew!
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-08 18:36:40 UTC Post #82650
because it doesnt have port forwarding. it wont find any servers because its looking for them on the router.
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-08 18:46:17 UTC Post #82655
:o

You can port forward any router - as long as you have the username and pass for the settings - mine didn't even have that - just a menu and stuff.

if your router doesn't have settings, shout at your ISP
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-08 18:47:01 UTC Post #82656
it does have settings, i just cant work them. if someone tells me how to, then i can set up a server to play anything (that isnt on the source engine).
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-08 19:16:57 UTC Post #82660
I have a router and you can choose what ports some programs use. There is a special IP address you type in to change the router's settings, i just forgot it.

Normally Im @ 4 hubs.. all they got 200TB share..
Avarage share is 90gb~
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-08 20:02:52 UTC Post #82697
200TB.. You sure about that?
Posted 19 years ago2005-01-09 04:41:01 UTC Post #82753
Dude, ZL, NeoModus DC sucks.

Half of the trackers/servers I try and connect reject the client because of the software it uses, my share size is fine.

DC++ > NeoModus

Nice proggy, actually uses the proper size units (1 KiB = 1024B vs. 1KB = 1000B).
