Hi all!

I wonder if someone can create a prefab of the street lights that are used in de_inferno for Counter-Strike for me? I suck with the vertex tool so I get hundreds of error messages... I someone could do this for me I would be very glad...

send in a screenshot to lambdacore@hotmail.com, then I'll see what I can do.

I'm an intermediate mapper - ofcourse anyone can say that, but hey, ive been mapping for 8 years.

Anyways - I can help - got some spare time as well.

Ok, I'll do that as soon as I come home... I'm at home in aprox. 1 hour. Thank you soooo much! I'll send a .wad file too containing the 2 textures that is required for the proper look.

Invalid brushes I take it? Basically when working with a brush, if there is any point you can draw a line through it and you hit more than 2 sides, you'll get an error. Break your geometry up a little more with the clipping tool.

The prob is I don't know how to use the vertex tool at all.. Therefore I need someone to do the street light for me. I've tried for about 1 year (yes, that's true!) to create that stupid light but with no success... :(

:o one year?

Wow - nasty.

VM is extremely powerful if you get togrips with it. Try and Try to learn it - and if you fail - try some more. That's how i got it :P

Make a model in 3D milkshape - that really helped me learn how to use the VM tool really nice. It's kind of like "conditioning" yourself.

Hey v0rt3x, how's it going? ...and did you recieve my mail with the screenshots and the wad file?

I tried and tried and tried yesterday to do it on my own, but still with no success. I guess I'm the worst Vertex guy living on this planet. :D
If you could finish that street light today it would be awsome. I'm that kind of guy that needs to add details to my maps before I can continue adding another section to it, so it's all up to you now m8!

3D Milkshape? Is it freeware or do I need to spend alot of money buying it?

It's shareware; I think it's about $30 US, or ?15 GB.

Well, I found this very nice prog :D BSPtwoMap, that helped me alot! A little bit of reconstruction was neccessary (spelled right?), but I got it right after a while...
Posted 19 years ago2005-02-13 07:07:17 UTC Post #90032
It's evil.
Posted 19 years ago2005-02-13 07:55:40 UTC Post #90045
BSPtwoMap makes all brushes Hollow.

Its only good for looking at how entities were set up.

It's kind of like "conditioning" yourself.<milkshape>
Hell ya, If you can handle Milkshape, VHE is simpler than my retarded friend. Man everytime I try to learn to use it, I quit after like 2 minutes, bury my head into the carpet, an cry, cry, cry, like so many times before.

Milkshape is extremely easy, imo. Maybe that's just cause I use XSI for modelling most of the time - Now THERE is a complex tool.

I guess I really haven't given it a chance. I really want to learn how to model, 'cause I really enjoy making detailed, static props. But, I'm also astoundingly lazy, so who knows...someday...maybe.
