here is what im working with:
1 Prop_Physics_override (world model = a hanging lamp)
1 Move_Rope
1 Keyframe_Rope
1 phys_lengthconstraint

I create (on top) the move_rope entity which is connected to the Keyframe_rope via the (next frame) option of the Move_rope entity. i then create (below the keyframe_rope entity) a prop_physics_override. I then create a physc_lengthconstaint above that with the 1st entity being the prop_physics_override.

when i compile and look at the hanging lamp in my map i see a hanging lamp which responds to me shooting it by flopping around and such, but the rope isnt attached, it is connecting itself to the origin of the map for some reason. any suggestions?

Put your constraint on the move_rope instead, try that - That way it'll fix the rope's length in place, else it'll just fall, and screw up.

You could also try a model with a wire on it and ballsocketing it.
