To make mods???!!!. My friend, first go to the Valve?s Half Life site and get the SDK... Then get some C++ compiler like Visual C++ and read a lot about the thing... And get a team, seems to be easier this way.
Unfortunately there is not a program that helps you to make weapons, enemies and complex AI stuff, you have to code it all yourself and it?s pretty hard.
There are some nice programs you will need anyway:

-Hammer: To map.
-Milkshape 3d: To create models.
-Some audio program: To create and process sounds.
-Wally: To texture stuff and put it together.

That?s for a mod like the specialists... Well, sure there are loads of things to add but I don?t really know... A good thing is to retexture weapons and enemies, configure your splash screens and messages and have a good bunch of good maps... Here is your mod ;),

I recommend Sound Forge Sonic Foundry. For sound, suprisingly  .

#You can't fool the fat man#
#No, you can't fool me#

Anyone can make a mod! I'm 15 and just pretty literate.

What's a mod anyway? Opinions? I mean, you can just change a leeeedle bit and it's modified. It's then a mod, right?

Anything in the custom games menu is a mod.

But for 3D: Only use Milkshape for converting. For modelling use Gmax or wings3d. They're freeware. :)

Search for a audio program at www.download.com:

there are many sites, that you can download expensive software from some are highly illeagle but others are based inb countries with laxer laws in that area, cos i got adobe photoshop 7 when it first came out through one of these sites and it would have costed me seriously ?500,(no lie)

what do you use to edit the .dll files to make a new mod and configure? :)
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-01 12:28:00 UTC Post #6227
D4rk m4tch give up the mod making hopes cos:
You need kind of advanced c++ skills(programming)
you need half-life sdk
you need A LOT of free time
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-01 13:01:39 UTC Post #6234
depends, actually, even if you have changed textures, appearances of model /entities, or changed a parameter of anything then its a mod.

my Zombie mod well part 1

DDDI: Quantity two (soon to have the a few maps finished and uploaded)as a quite a few textures that i have created and put onto my maps, on top of that i'am in the process of re-making player and monster skins on the barneys and zombies so this will be a mod

MOD = anything that as been changed from its original parameters.

Hey, can someone do a really long and specific tutorial on making a mod.

please make it include making weapons, programing c++, enemies, the basic mod stuff, sounds, and everything else. It would help many many people because its just too hard to do without some help. :D

The story and the plot are just a fourth of the battle, the actual modifying of Half-Life is the hard part, since that is what makes it a mod.

I've created a Mod, but it sucks and doesn't have much modifications and I need a very good tutorial to help me.

This is probably the longest post ive ever written so i'll just drag it on a little to say "God Bless us, EveryOne"

Um, a tutorial like that would take years to write and weeks to download and god knows how long to complete

you're basically asking for everything - everyone wants that, but no one to date bothered to make a tutorial like this, its just not humanely possible do do that i'm afraid, C++ alone is about a 1000page read, AI takes years to master (code your own i mean) :zonked: :zonked: :zonked:

I guess you'll have to grin and bear the fact that you have to read lotsof different tuts and not just one - if that was the case then there will be no sites like this one - there will be one page with a download link... CLICK HERE TO KNOW EVERYTHING

btw, the answer to the meaning of life, the universe is 42 in case you're wondering ;)

Yeah. This is a mapping site :)
Kol: I also put that as most of the answers in my Maths exam

Do you know what's incredibly strange?

I got 42 as the answer in the last 3 sums i've just calculated :o

were they all 41+1?

I didn't mean program c++.
Just a tut on how to put it all together.
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-15 04:43:24 UTC Post #7817
I think there are a couple of tutorials on Verc that deal with putting a full Mod together, and there might also be something on 69th, but Yeah... it would take years.
A Mod is pretty much anything that uses the original HL/CS and modifies it... So if you make a single map, then it is actually a mod.

Stay tuned for our own home grown one.
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-15 13:06:41 UTC Post #7855
yea. my parents both work or used to work with c++. Now my mom is MS certified VB engineer and a Senior Systems Anylist. I'm in a vary computer oriented family (we have 4-6 computers in the house on average).

I'm working on a small mod. I've changed all the basic CS models, menus, and the basic controls. I need to get the damn game to accept my damn defaults.

What was I going to say?
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-15 13:49:19 UTC Post #7864
Wow! Lucky! I guess then you get kinda restricted though. I know the most about c'puters by far in this house :)

I don't know :P

I know almost the least in my house. My brother is a genius so its hard to do any good at all with him calling me a moron all the time. Some things with computers I just don't get, but I get C++ :)
