I think there are plenty of mappers out there that haven't joined TWHL yet. I used the tutorials and the site a heck of a long time before joining as a member.

Some people don't like a community, they just go for the resources.

I came here for a while and just read the tutorials and the posts and I only joined when I had some questions of my own. Actually I believe it was Mephs who referred me to this site...

BTW: What's up with the "Proudly Christian" and "Proudly Liberal" things? I understand what christian is but Liberal... (In Canada, Liberal is an electoral party...)

Just... liberal in general. Here in Anglaterre I do indeed heartily support the Liberal Democrats (see avatar at present), who are a political party, but not just that.

I used this site to map for hl1, i joined after 2 months of reading tutorials, had like 100 something post, till i lost my account....

Later on, I beginned mapping for hl2, i saw some hl2 example maps and damn those where nasty I joined again, hope I remember my pass now

I would just like to say that all of your tutorials have really helped, i am new to mapping and have started my first proper playable map, i had to learn from here basically everything, but when testing my map appears totally lit and doesn't load the red lights i put in, there are no leaks is this because i have to compile using RAD or VIS?

Yes; You'll have to compile using vis and rad to get lightning.

Read the Compiling Introduced tutorial, beaver, it explains the purposes of everything.

the liberal thing all started a-way back when the forums turned into a kind of "brattylord versus the world" discussion. hehe, "discussion"... well, some big political argument started which turned into a democratic-flamefest. during the fight, people started putting "proudly liberal" into their avatars. then a few quick-witted individuals parodied the liberals and made such avatars as "proudly monkey" and "proudly bitchin'". to this day, there is no democratic party in TWHL... come to think of it...

I actually wasnt a n00b when i first joined i just came here for some more advanced stuff.

The av stiff. Let me explain this, since it was my fault it started.

We had a "discussion" thread, in which we disscused religious and moral issues. We all got out of hand, and it turned into one big hate fest.

I was the only American Christian Republican who dared to stand up for what I believed in.

so, it turned into a group of Aetheust Democrats vs Me.

As a sign of Hate, mr. Seventh here decided to put "Proudly Liberal" in his avatar. It stands as a hate symbol toward me.

I never have had anything of the sort in my avatar. In fact, my Avatar has been the same for a year and a half now.

People tried to impersonate the origional signs of hate by putting such useless stuff in their avs as "Proudly burnin" and "Proudly Monkey".

I'm not sure when the "Proudly Christian" came along. I guess I was gone, but I obviously will not take part in stuff like that.

We have all changed since, and most of us have matured to a level of understanding.

I put Seventh in the most of us catagory, so I really do not understand why he still has that in his avatar...

Dude, it's no longer directed at anyone in particular. I've become more generally political in my life and so reflect it in my av. Plus, at present, I just have the Lib. Dem. bird in me av.

Ive become less political. I hate politics with a passion. I dont even watch the news due to the political slant. Ill just scan the headlines in the paper or online and draw my own conclusions. And if Jahzel is right, all that modern politics really are is a dumb, boring puppet show. The only thing I do is get enough facts about each candidate, vote and then forget all about it. I am conservative because of my own views, instead of just conforming to a political party.
