Hey all. I was just wondering, is it possible for memebers to submit tutorials? If it is, then I'd like to know, because I have a very specific one in mind. Thanks again. :D

There is a tutorial on this in the begginers section! ;)

Creating tutorials has always been encouraged. Write it up, with any images needed and blast it off to a mod. I used to hit Andy with them. I'm sure Seventh or one of the others will be happy to do what is needed to add the content.

Add examples and triple check for accuracy, really helps prevent embarassment through the forums ;)

Yeah but who or where do I send them to once I have a completed tutorial.

Tutorial Submission:

The Tutorials at TWHL are meant to show you how to do things that are new or difficult.
They try to cover a whole topic, but sometimes this has to be divided into a series of tutorials, because the subject matter is too big..
If you think you have solved a problem and other members might benefit from your discoveries....... then read on.
(If you just want to show off your ideas, post them in the Example Maps).

First Time Submitting a tutorial?
I will accept first time submissions from all members regarding any topic that deals with Half-Life. All you need to do for your First submission is to E-Mail Me with a brief description of the tutorial you want to write. I will let you know if it is a good idea and if we can use a tutorial on that subject.
DO NOT send me your tutorial without e-mailing me first !.... I delete e-mails that have attachments from people I don't know.

Those of you that have already had a tutorial posted:
If you have already submitted a tutorial then I think it is a good idea for you to format the next one yourself. If you want to add stuff to a tutorial you have already written, I can send you the text file and you can modify that.
The main reason for this is that it will help me to test, proof read and post it quicker.
The Download Example Map zip contains the basic formatting we use at TWHL.

THINGS EVERYONE MUST DO BEFORE SUBMITTING A TUTORIAL !

1. Let me know if English is not your primary language !
2. Search the TWHL tutorials, It might have already been done.
3. Search the Web....... I will, you can count on that.
4. If you are describing HOW to do something, test it as written step by step, or get a friend to try it out.
5. Show your DRAFT to a friend, does it make sense? Check out other TWHL tutorials and see how things are laid out.

And most importantly.......
6. If I suggest that you research the subject more and modify your submission, then it might be a good idea to do just that.... I am not asking you to do this for my benefit, I am asking you to do it for yours, and all the members.
7. If it doesn't work, doesn't cover all aspects of the topic, or has major faults, then it won't be posted.

Have fun,
And if you have any problems, just e-mail me.
Andy

DO NOT Post Questions about this tutorial here.... E-Mail Me

OK then... You say there is a tutorial on this? I can not see any tutorial that says "Tutorial Submission". I have no idea if it's a error on my computer or what. I'm really getting confused. Please help me!!

DM read Jaardsi's post, taken from an earlier forum thread. There is no tutorial on submitting tuts, but apparently has been covered before.

They probably deleted it! : Well, Email Seventh or Andy a Email with a description of your tutorial then wait for their replay! If they want your tutorial then Email them it!!! ;) One thing check in popular sites for a tutorial on the same subject for if there is one then it will be just a waste of time to try posting one!!

Here are some of the popular editing sites:
76th Valtitude- http://www.vlatitude.com/
Rust- http://www.gamedesign.net/
Snark Pit- http://www.snarkpit.net/
And of course check if there is no tutorial on this in TWHL!

The tutorial that jaardsi quoted isn't properly released yet. It's not listed, but he's, uh, found it in its top-secret location :).

It was removed because it isn't current. It needs updating now that we have another Moderator on board and also because I found out after 2 years that the submission form would accept HTML ...
Doh!

Anyway, if you have a tutorial idea, send it to Seventh or Rabid or me (I will forward it to them :-)

Dont forget.
Stuff that has been covered wont be published.
Stuff that is available on other sites won't be published.
Stuff that doesn't make sense ... well, you get the idea.

Don't devote 2 pages to "stack the entities above each other because it looks nice" !
Proof read your submission.
We are not translators!

If you're speaking English as a foreign language, then I will correct mistakes for you. I will, not speaking for Andy or Rabid there.
