Not to do too much self-pimping or anything, but I thought this deserved a thread.
http://www.blackmesasource.com

If you haven't had a chance to find a copy of PCGamerUK, you can now read it on our media page. We first want to welcome several new faces to the development team including Angry Lawyer, a programmer who actually is a lawyer; TeddyBear, a texture artist whose work includes the Super-Soldier from Sven Co-op; Nokia, our second programmer; e-freak, an aspiring texture artist ; and Stormy, a modeling hurricane. In case no one has noticed, HLFallout.net recently interviewed us, and we provided them with two exclusive screenshots of Forget About Freeman and Lambda Core.

With media this month, apart from the magazine exposure, we have levels, weapons, concepts and music. The first public viewing of a skinned model from Black Mesa: Source comes in the form of the 9mm GLOCK: modeled by Sanada and skinned by NecEvil. Following suit is another chapter preview: Forget About Freeman, designed by the talented Kester.

At Black Mesa: Source, plans are always changing, new ideas are popping up, and we find ourselves scrapping old progress to create a more intensive experience: which is why we have decided to release ONE full resolution shot of Surface Tension. This shot features the dam with custom textures created by NecEvil & bkd86. Flanking all of these is our conceptual art. The Anomalous Materials Entrance and Apache concepts drawn by bkd86 with the Controller concept drawn by, the now retired, Ole. In the Music department, we have a one-minute preview from our sound tracks, composed by the stunning Plink. The track is dubbed "Surface Tension".

To finish this all off, for all of you who are experiencing difficulties or having problems with the FLASH page, we have now released an HTML version of the website for your viewing pleasure. Our web developer Section_Ei8ht has added his own little comical twist to it. Before viewing the website, we would like to note it is designed to give you a chuckle...
As some of you may have a slower connection or have trouble with the original Flash version of the site, you can now access the HTML version, as well as view the shots which are linked below.

Nice! Those screenshots look way better thebn the original game. The surface tension one (with the damn) was brilliant compared to the others though.

Why not? I just played Opposing Force because Blue Shift reminded me of it and i'm glad I played it as it's a good game with a sad ending and moving music ;)

Nice pictures, but are you going to change the sky? I dont think those giant rocks fit in with the rest of the enviroment
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-12 14:05:48 UTC Post #127294
One question popped into my mind: What settings and hardware were used for taking the Surface Tension screenshot and was it altered in Photoshop.
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-12 15:01:15 UTC Post #127297
The Surface Tension shot is in no way altered in Photoshop, save for resizing and applying the media overlay. It was taken on my system (eVGA GeForce 6600 GT AGP, 1GB RAM, 3GhZ P4) at 1280x1024, 6xAA, 16xAF, and all other settings at high.

I'm sure the sky will be changed, it's a de_train one at the moment. Too blue.

I do miss opposing force though,,
I think I will start a new game! :D

Aw, that settles my mind, still. It wont capture the old hl feeling from what i can see. Atleast not for me.
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-12 22:47:54 UTC Post #127350
Pepper, I assume it will feel more like the classic 'HL' when they've remade all the textures and stuff.

wow, the dam shot looks damn good.

*M_Gargantua begins kneeling to the BM:S team but stops half-way, and resolves to finish the gesture of reverance and respect when he see's that the finished product is worthy of it.

and can i be a demo'er. That way id be able to see how it runs on a machine built to Half-life 2's recomended specs. please

and Ps:when i was browzing through your forums i came to a tread about the helicopter that you see on the tram, i say you should just have the G-Man walking away from it as a proper explanation.

and PPs: good luck with it

Will you be doing the hazard course?
And for the voices, will you use the orignal sounds, then work your magic on them using face poser?
Posted 18 years ago2005-08-13 12:09:07 UTC Post #127448
how can you say it does not look good, its Black Mesa for peats sake, it is on a mesa, that has rocks and stuff on and around and in the cliffs

I believe you could say yes, they did port it over to the source engine completely, and they haven't made any updates.

Until Later...

The cliffs are something many people have commented on, and rest assured, they will be changed. Brian, our concept and art director, and I were on a very short deadline to get these shots done for PCG UK (Think like three less weeks) so some custom content had to be cut and some temporary content utilized. Instead of spending hours on the skybox we decided to temporarily use the rock cliff models, reskinned. Worry not for the replacements are already in place!

We will be remaking the hazard course.

The voice stuff is still in development. Our sound tech is working on remastering some of the original voices, while some actors who are quite accurate to the originals (Some who can do perfect Nihlanths or Gmans for example) may be recruited. The Grunt and Vox stuff will probably be done by our team then will have filters applied over it.

I didn't liked Xen, my favorite places are facilities that are near the surface or on it, also i love warehouses and stuff like that. Xen has too many organic things.

But Xen was magical and seemed almost real! Plus I love thaaaaat name :quizzical:
