i read the tutorials but i still dont no where all my texture files are. can anyone help me please.

They are in the mod folder,, like half-life/textures.wad
if you map for steam they are in the CFG folders..
So, get CFGscape, ;)
I don't know any download site for CFGscape, but, I'll give you an other link.. Goooogle

Half-life run under Steam does not use wad files. It uses cache files with the extension .gcf

for valve hammer, the textures i need is halflife.wad though

Textures for Half-Life are stored in GCF (Game Cache Files). These files are similar to Zip files, in that the information inside has to be extracted. If you open the Half-Life GCF file using GCFScape, which you can Google for. If you read the tutorial that was linked by BJ, it will tell you where to extract all the files and how to set up Hammer after doing so.

I just use HL and CS 1.5 to test all my maps. Steam is too much of a hassle for mapping on the older games.
