How about, when you make a thread, you can shoose to be e-mail noticed/alerted or PM noticed/alerted when someone answere (exept when you answere your own thread)

That would be great, so you wound't have to go to TWHL > forums > THA FORUM > thread ust to check if you have answeres..

If we used E-mails, it wouldn't take any database power, but PM's would do, so, I say, E-mail!

Just a suggestion, how do you like it?

Emails would suck, but PMs would be great!

I routinely check the forums and it takes me maybe four or five minutes to run through all the new posts. You don't want to make that effort if you're looking for an answer??

We don't have unlimited server space, which is why you're only given a 20 PM limit on your Inbox's.

Just check the thread while your checkin your messages, fool.

It's not really a server space issue, the PMs, it's more of a performance thing. I don't think our server box is particularly powerful (or else it's shared between quite a few sites), and searching through fifty-odd thousand messages (20 messages * 2500 members) for your messages could take a while. That is why there is an archive.

Yeah. If you want a reply, read the thread. I've never understood that "feature" in phpBB, etc., to be honest. Same goes for PMs ? if somebody's bothered to PM you, you're probably around a fair bit.

Oh well, bad suggestion.
