I tried to write a text editor once, but I got bored and stopped.

What's a text editor?
Posted 18 years ago2005-09-19 15:02:18 UTC Post #135782
Notepad is not good for coding. Indentation, colour coding, where're you!

I use Notepad++ on Windows, Kate & Vim on Linux.

Wow, what a coincidence. Notepad++ for Windows, vim/gvim and kate for Linux.

What did you use to write it?
I used qbasic. That was probably 2-3 years ago, but if you want the source, i'll try to find it. I might still have the hard drive. And what is notepad++? never heard of it.

well, linux has editor names like joe and bob (no kidding!) so I'm not surprised, maybe someone thought they were being sexist and added a female name to the list. And i'll try google, just thought i'd ask here, since I was posting anyway.

I use Notepad++ for php and html. Notepad or similar for small notes and such. Microsoft Word for larger documents (though I don't really like it, I might go and try OpenOffice again one day).

Wordpad.
Posted 18 years ago2005-09-19 18:48:18 UTC Post #135846
Dude, wordpad sucks =/ At least for coding
Posted 18 years ago2005-09-19 19:04:59 UTC Post #135848
Wordpad loads large files more quickly than Notepad but it insists on adding an extension to the filename with File->Save As..

Notepad will at least let you select "All Types *.*" to avoid the .txt extension.

However, notepad++ beats'em both, for loading and saving. :)

I use Wordpad for VMT coding and Source Scripting I guess, since its my windows default association and I cbfed to change it. NP++ owns though.

Well if you want to talk about coding then I'd go with whatever Visual Studio .Net uses.

PSPad has files you can load that define a language, such as html, php, c, c++, basic... so that it highlights code, and you can add new languages, too! But as far as I know, it only works in windows.
