I am sure this is probably simple, but I cant seem to find out what to do.
How do I load the map and play it without opening up hammer and recompiling it over and over again? I loaded up half life and dont see a way to play my maps. Just the New game, multiplayer, and so on. Nothing stating "your new map" or "the map you just completed."

Ok so once you have compiled your map it creates a .bsp file so if your map was called habboi.bsp then it will be saved in the maps folder depending on what game your mapping for...CS, HL1 etc...

Sadly you 'DO' have to re-compile your map if you add a tiny thing cause well it makes sense don't it?

How do I load the map through the normal game? Do I actually have to open up hammer every time I want to play the finished map?

Well if you use 'Steam' which is a good program to use to organise Half-Life related games then I would seriously try it!
Basically once you compile your map just turn on Half-Life and depending on the game

Half-Life: Press ` to open up console and type map mapname and it will load.

CS: Press Create Server and choose map.
