Try just adding a standard light entity somewhere.

Make sure RAD is running.

Is this Source or HL1?

Happens to me when the environment light is'nt set up right, make sure the pitch is -90, or for better shadows use -45

env light uses SKY textures as light sources, lights just provide light.

environment lights up the whole map, and just a light, lights up a part of the map,

real life example:

Environment_light ---> The Sky!
Light ---------------> The Lightbulb! ;)

Another way of explaining it is that
light is an entity that emits light from a certain point and in all directions, sort of like a sphere of light.
light_enviroment is a distant light. It doesnt matter where you place the entity, the only thing that matters is the angle (azimuth) and pitch (altitude) of the sun. You can actually get a solar calculator and light your map in a precise time of day etc

The most important differance is that you need atleast one sky brush to use the light_enviroment, otherwise it wont emit any light.

If you have compiling tools that are older then ZHLT 2.5.1(This includes hammer's original compiling tools) your sky brushes need to have a sky texture aglined to all they're sides if not they wont emmit light. :glad:
