Hello everyone.

Well, this is very (very very) old, in fact, it's like, 30 years old.
When you play Led Zeppelins song "stairway to heaven" it plays up a satanistic message.
I noticed this a long time ago after looking at the "Urban legends
But later when I noticed that there was even more songs that played up an odd message backwards.
For example, Brittney Spear's "hit me baby one more time" wich, if you play backwards, says "Sleep with me I'm not too young".

Here is a page with some part of some tracks that plays a message if played backwards.
http://jeffmilner.com/backmasking.htm

Do you know any other song?
What do you think about the led zeppelin example, coincidence or on purpose?

I think that some of those songs are editted a bit :> Best way to be sure is to play a song backwards yourself.

Hmm listened to some of them in that site. And... it didn't sound satanistic-ish or something like that to me...

Only some of them are, not all of them.

Haha pink floyd one is cool :>

Heheheh, some of those are funny, some are weird, and one is sad.

"Sleep with me I'm not too young" :D

If you ask me, some songs probably do have things reversed into them, y'know, jokes, mocking the Stairway to Heaven story, etc. The Slim Shady -> Eminem does seem a bit of a coincidence, although most of it just comes down to the fact that there are a lot of words in our language.

The Led Zeppelin song i think is a coincidens, it?s 30 years old, if they wanted a backwards message they would have to wright the song in order to get it right, and it probably would have sucked building a song for a backwards lyric. and Led Zeppelin aren?t a satanic band!

And when you play it backwards, wich i have a lot of times, the things he say like "my sweet satan" sounds more like "maa et satah" jibrisch.

"Jibberish" ;)

Is it really that imoprtant to spell "jibberish" right seventh ? :P

BTW, one of the early songs i recorded with my band "Roadkill Safari", i can?t remember the name of it. But we played it backwards just for fun, and you could clearly hear me screaming "I will see you no more!" and it didn?t sound backwards either, it sounded perfect.

i didnt believe them at first but being a super led zeppelin fan, i had to try.. and y'know what? i think it is on purpose. they probably thought 'hey, song about heaven. lets be really funny and add satan in a secret message' 'yeah, good idea. pass the pot!'
i mean, the lyrics in normal play barely make sense anyways.

The britney spears one is so dinstinguishable that... honestly, i think it might be real also..

The weird al one is of course real. no doubt.
as is the pink floyd one.

and another song not mentioned, is the lumberjack song by monty python. play it backwords during hte chorus and you'll see :glad:

The one by pink floyd is obviously not a coincidence. ^^
I bet "an other one bites the dust" backwards is just a coincidence. :

BTW: What's Cheez whiz? :P

....and if you play Girls Aloud records backwards....they sound better. [/Hicks] :P

The Britney one IS quite convincing, the only other believable one is the famous Stairway to Heaven, the rest could be anything.

Come on! You have to know what he?s saying before you listen, otherwhise you hear nothing at all!
Posted 19 years ago2005-11-16 13:58:44 UTC Post #147409
I singed "stairway to heaven" my self,, I did say all of those things, but it wasn't clear!
The only clear things that I could hear was "satan" and "six six six"
else, i was just rabbel.
I belive it was am coincidence, not on purpose.
The others, I'm sure are on purpose, exept "an otherone bites the dust"

Pokemon song was just, lol, I love satan? ^^
It really sounded like they said that and they are nuts so it's quite posseble..
"Satan east cheez whiz" is also made on purpose, I mean, if you say satan eats cheez whiz and play it backwards you get the exact sound of what they are saying.

Coincidence.

Most of it is coincidence.. The inaccuracies of the speach, doesnt seem too logical.. Also, it would be a pain in the ass to try and figure out how to say something and make it sound like something backwards..
But sometimes, they are good for a laugh - More Backmask

Incidently, I'm quite interested in subliminals, tricks of the mind etc, so if anyone can point me in the direction of an article suggesting/backing up the idea that backmasking actually 'works' on the listener, rather than being simply audible in reverse I'd be much obliged. :)

[edit:]
#there was a little toolshed...#
A satanic verse if I've ever heard one :D

I recorded myself singing random lyrics, and it turns out

"And we are marching down the road in a wagon, and we dont want the dark wagon indians to take dark wagon"

sounds like

"Those girls just dont wanna do it"

Shocking discovery, eh?

Screw them, then. Or not, as the case is, according to your audial tricks.

The Weird Al one and Empty Spaces by Floyd are done deliberately. The other ones are, I'm guessing, coincidences, and some of them don't even sound like the proposed lyrics at all.

you can make the words 'this kiss' sound like satan backwords.

I reckon its all to do with the power of SUGGESTION. Those words sound like a hell of a lot of things.......... But when you suggest to someone what it is they will believe it because their brain picks out the tiny parts which match..........If you get what I mean?

Hehe, "It's fun to smoke marijuana" was pretty good.
